INDUSTRY -- A hit-and-run involving a woman on horseback and the beating of two men may have been prompted by road rage, authorities said.

A verbal dispute broke out between two men on horses and people in an SUV around 6:30 p.m. Friday near Fourth Street and Lomitas Avenue, according to sheriff's Sgt. Mark Lopez of the Industry station.

The people in the SUV were apparently upset about the men riding horses in the street, Lopez said.

"It escalated into a fight," Lopez said. "The occupants of the SUV did use a metal pipe."

As the brawl ended, the people in the SUV noticed a young woman on a horse and drove toward her, striking the animal, according to Lopez.

One of the horsemen and the woman were checked out at a hospital, but were not seriously injured.

The horse didn't suffer any broken legs.

Authorities are now looking for several young men in their 20s and the red SUV involved in the attack.

Doesn't surprise me in L. A. Again another incident of lack of respect for their fellow human being. Much like the enviros trying to tell us " The care takers of the land". How we should manage our ground when we have to make a living off of it. Help down from my soap box PLease

When I was younger(much) I trained my horse to bite, strike and kick. He would also rear. Also do thet rear, squat and leap, kicking out with both rear feet. I was young and rode alone a lot. Hod one close call that I managed to get away from..guy pulled the bridle off,but Cholly was trained to voice and knee,so I asked him to rear and run,got away...
