Facebook

I to have had lot's of folks i have'nt seen in 25 years add me on there, but it's nice to see what family and friends are up to.Lot's of pics of folks which is neat also. It's addicting like ranchers. But no farmville or any of that for me.

I use FB. I can keep in touch with family and friends and share pictures back and forth with them. I've found old school friends that I otherwise probably would have never talked to again, and also found some new friends. I also use a few of the games.

One of the problems with Facebook- is there are virus and trojans and all kinds of bad things running wild on it....It might look like and say its a message from a friend, with a home video-or a good youtube site- but when you open it- it infects your computer and then generates messages that look like they come from you to drag in more folks...Once they get a bite into somebodies computer they go zippo thru a whole bunch...
I'm on my wifes laptop today- because mine is down because of another virus- and I've talked to several that have had the same problem...

The one hitting a bunch of computers right now is a scam that tells you your computer is infected- and you have to buy their Spyware for $49.95 with the credit card- or it eventually shuts down your computer...

And I had all kinds of Spyware- Virus Blockers etal- but I'm having to have the computer guy clean things up again- and hopefully he can get it..

I'm finding out, OT, that if you just use the free downloads of
spyware, antivirus, etc, you really aren't all that well protected.
It's worth what it costs is what two computer people told me.
They both advised me to get Norton Anti-virus 2010. So I'm
going to do that. Have to get rid of what I have now, first tho.

Can't imagine getting anything done in day around here if I spent MORE time on the computer. I have a Facebook account, hardly ever go on it. With farmer's markets and everything else we do around here I just don't have time. Most days I feel guilty for being on the internet as much as I am, which is just to check e-mail and get my fix on here.

Besides, if you have Ranchers.net, what else could you want?

We had Norton...Then the computer fellow that works with the wife advised us to get Norman- which is what the original computer folks advised.... So thats what I have now...
Now the new guy my wife has been working with advises McAfee- which is what they have put into all the hospital- and local business's :???: ...I just talked to him- and he thinks what hit mine is Trojan B (whatever the H that is)- which he says can pretty well get around everything if you open the wrong site...

I talked to a cattle buyer the other day that says they still haven't got his cleaned up- and that he got it off Facebook too- the same way from a message that claimed it was from one of his friends....
I know some that have spent $200 trying to get their computers cleaned up...

There's a bunch out there I don't won't findin. Me. Lol. My wifes on it and youngins to. She will show me some stuff. It looks like a bunch og gossip like justin said.

I detest Norton. every new virus that comes out, it seems they have the fix right away... almost like they were prepared for it....

black choppers and men in black suits , I know...but it looks like they create the problem to keep them in business.

Oldtimer, I got the same virus (security tool) from Photobucket! It sure sucks and has put a crimp in me posting any pictures till I get the dang thing fixed.

Thanks-- that explains where I got it this second time since I have avoided opening anything on Facebook- but worked on putting a bunch of the bull pictures on Photobucket...

I had to make a call to the sheriff because of facebook.

One of the dispatchers would post "Sure hope its a quiet nite as all my officers are off duty at home"

I told him with several rural properties and thousands of dollars of machinery, livestock, etc. I didn't want everyone and their dog to know when there were no deputies out.

I heard a lot of the "kids" are screaming because all the old fogies have taken over- and now its all pictures of the grandkids being sent to grandma and grandpa....

i see no problem in that. its just gotten to be just like myspace, which is why i got rid of it. It gave my computer 2 viruses. i just dont see the point of it anymore.

Sorry but that is not from facebook its from photbucket. I know about 6 others who had the same thing. Including shoer...now to get him sitting long enough to get his computer cleaned up.
If you dont want to pay for norton get the AVG free and its just as good and blocks most crap that is out there.
