Things have settled down and I finally have time to post some pictures. It's been a busy but good summer. Had some timely rains in May and June so had an excellent hay crop in spite of not great irrigating water.

Here are some 2nd cutting alfafa pictures. Ended up with 150 bales more than last year :D And may still get some 3rd.

A big part of our summer is training bird dogs. The kennel was full and kept us quite busy. After tomorrow we will only have 5 left in the kennel :)

It was a good grass year and the cattle are doing well, had green grass much longer than normal for here.

Have a couple colts coming along nicely (no pics of them...sorry). But here are few wildlife pictures I took while riding one of them the other day.

A young blue grouse who wouldn't get out of my way.

A herd of about 80 elk...they didn't knock that fence down, it was already like that. But we did have to fix a bunch of fence where they went across the road on their way out. :x

Sorry for posting so many at once...making up for lost time

Well, not everything has gone to the dawgs in Oregon. :D

Good calves, good haycrop, good market, what more does a rancher need?

Thanks for posting.

Things are looking very good in your neck of the woods, Nicky. The cattle look great. At first glance I thought you had one cow sucking another one, but that is just a whoppin' big calf. Thanks for posting the pictures.

Thanks all

'H Mike's dad was the top German Shorthair Pointer in the US, so Mike grew up doing it. I've been doing it since we got married. It's alot of work but it has enabled us to buy this place and grow into what we've got today. We only had 30 cows when we moved here, and put up maybe 100 ton of hay the first year here.

Great Pictures Nicky I have to ask though is the reason your kennel is getting empty is because Mike keeps taking the untrainable dogs over the hill to shoot.

New to this board so still trying to learn everyone, seems like its a pretty close nit group, nobody starting anything which is a real nice change.

Great photo's!! My 9 year old son has a 4 month old chocolate lab and dream's of him becoming a hunting dog :D any tip's or link's for somebody just starting out with absolutely zero experience??
