We got enough of them down here to build an army. They get on the horses and us while we are working cows in the marsh. after a while you get used to them biting yo, but for some reason now they are starting to leave scars on us. i have a hole in my hand from when one bit me the other day.

Don't mean to alarm you, but almost everyone I've heard or ttalked to about a BROWN RECLUSE SPIDER bite at first thought it was a fireant sting.

hah no it wasnt a spider bite. been bit numerous times by them and black widows. I killed the ant on my had that bit it.

Oh we have them things up here too....maybe not as big as down in texas, but still just as painful when they bite ya!...they're mounds are pretty good sized, so most times ya can avoid em....nasty critters they are...lol

They ain't big, they're EVIL. I don't mind the big old red harvester ants, (we used to have)which the horny toads (we used to have) ate. They pretty much wouldn't bother you even if you stood on their hills or followed them as they crawled across the ground like Willie sang about. Their (FireAnt) mounds can wreck equipment, they build inside walls, sometimes and get into breaker boxes and junction boxes, carry dirt right up into them and start building. Here' what looks like a pretty good Tx A&M website on them. +they're MEAN little SOBs.
