Chores this morning were a bit on the foggy side. We brought all the girls home the other day. They were out of cut feed and with me doctoring it is just easier for the volunteer help when they are all close to the stack yard. They start calving in about a month.

Ah, here they come

Your cows are wintering good Randi. My wife chastises me when I don't completely roll the bales out and will complete the job by hand if it's not done right. :D

This was our 3rd or 4th foggy morning. Was to take Mom to a doctor app. this afternoon but we got a shot of mist right at noon so we figured we could find a better day.
It is to storm Friday night thru Sunday. Daughter is packing a bag as she works 10 day straight at the hospital and doesn't want to fight bad roads. :?

Certainly a lot of fog here the last few days. Today I got a call to pull a guy out where he got his tractor stuck trying to dig out a creek crossing. I certainly didn't like being out on 5 miles of state highway in this pea soup with the tractor.

I kept off the driving lane as much as I could and drove the outside tractor wheels on the white line on the shoulder. There are still a few cuts the snowplow made that are kinda narrow. :?

Tomorrow we gotta hunker down for another potential 3 day storm. Looks like the banana belt weather is over for a few days.

Beautiful pics randiliana, and I agree with the others, your cows look really good :D . How did those heifer calves you bought to breed a few springs ago ever turn out? They sure looked like they'd make nice cows.

Thanks WR. It hasn't been too bad a winter for them this year. Nothing like last year.

Those girls turned out pretty good on the whole. 10/11 were bred first year. 2 had no milk and we culled them out and sold/adopted their calves that spring. And all of the last 8 are bred to calve again this spring. The lead cow in the 2nd pic is one of them and the one with her tongue in her nose (166) in the 5th pic is another. They all raised pretty good calves.

Not foggy here this morning. Chance of rain and then 3-6" of snow, so they say. Gotta do chores then head over to a friends and help him preg check and ivomec his cows.

I was just talking to a guy that was up by the border- and then looked at the road report page...They are saying everything in our area by the border is "black ice".....

We were just over helping some friends work cattle. 1/2 hour drive. Roads are slippery, and they've salted the curves and corners. But I've seen the roads a lot worse. Sounds like it is going to get nasty out though.

No fog here today. A little freezing rain/sleet/big snowflakes at various times for most of the day. I was out about 3 hours doing chores and now have my duds drying off by the stove. 8)
