Oh....sure.....I'll get right on that!!!!

Somehow Kola you just don't seem like the type to fit into that Susie Homemaker profile....

And I don't even think I'll show that to Grandma-- and that way avoid the look and/or the whack on the head that would accompany it....

This week I'm more like Susie BarnBuilder!!!

Ya know.....if a woman did any of those things now days, the man would think she'd done somethin........and was tryin to "make good".

Not that I don't cook supper. But it ain't ready when he walks in the door...it gets done when both of us come in from whatever we were doin durin the afternoon. Sometimes supper aint until 9 pm.

The picture says Advertising Archives...wonder exactly what they were advertisin???

Well, if they follow all that AND do a lot of the chores while hubby is traveling, plus absolute gorgeous......They'd be close to Mrs PPRM,

PPRM

At first glance those ideas look totally off base. But then, if our goal in marriage is to love and cherish our spouse putting them first- those would be ways to do just that. When you see the slip-shod ways some folks are raising families these days, instituting just a few of these would make for a much nicer life for the family.

(But I didn't like the one about not objecting if he stays out all night!!) And "his topics of conversation are more important than yours"

my Mrs. follows those pretty close, but I better be treating her right to get that type of woman.

if that was taught in school today we would sure have less divorces!

Don't ya just wonder what it's like in jigs house when no ones watchin.
I can see jigs moppin and sweepin and doin laundry

My mom was raised like that. I'm not even joking one little bit. She even had a maid suit that she wore to do house work
Things have changed over the years though :D I know that dad can make mac and cheese if he needs to survive :)

The way I read this article it was written in the 50's where young women went to finishing school to become the perfect wife.

At that time didn't men usually do all the outside work like mowing the lawn, cleaning the gutters, shoveling the sidewalk, the odd plumbing and electrical repairs etc.

Also the men were usually home at night from working their 8-5 bankers hours jobs.

So I could easily be that woman, that would actually be a dream job. If all I had to do was look after the kids keep the house clean and make sure I am perky and presentable with a hot meal and a cool drink for my hubby at night.

The question is how many of us are out calving, doing all the yard work, driving big machinery, looking after the kids, making all the meals, keeping a spotless home, handling all the finances, and running all the errands, doing laundry, even buying the men's clothes for them so they can concentrate on their jobs that take them away for weeks at time but are very much needed to actually pay the bills in the times of a fallen cattle industry.

So heck ya, give me a dress and a pair of heals I would gladly trade that just to see my husband for more than a couple of days a week.....

Well, I am definitely not the old-fashioned kind of gal. Give me calving cows or running a tractor any day over being Susie Homemaker. My theory is if I have to work outside, hubby can kick in and help in the house.

Now, if I could only find a husband like that ........... Oh wait, I already have a husband, but not like that! I wonder if there's a place where I could trade him in for a new, improved model? Probably not, so I guess I'll keep the one I got. I'd hate to have to train someone new, this one has already learned a few rules to abide by.

A friend told me she'd read on Scopes that this wasn't an actual article, just somebody's (some man's?) joke. So I don't know what to believe. The wording seemed a tad strong but parts of it rang true for that era.
