For those that might care.

Atta boy! And in three or four days you'll be done baling. Then you can start feeding it

Holy smoke gcreek, it is about time. Now it is time to cut firewood I suppose. If you are passing by my city in your slow time give me a call.

Good for you gcreekrch, at least you will get finished haying before you start feeding! An outfit in this area has been making square bale silage since June - and fed cows right through the summer too :???:  I could never figure their operation out - surely there comes a point when it's easier just to let the cows harvest it?

Thanks Gang :D

Hopefully the four days of "summer like" weather they are forecasting materialize. I would rather make hay out of this stuff than haul it home to wrap. Wrapped bales and pocket knife carrying kids aren't compatable.
It would be nice to leave the cows rustling until Christmas but we are prepared for a long winter if one comes around.

we kinda feel the same around here ,it was a long old haying season , I think we were 3 weeks behind , but was worth the wait , there's alot off poor feed on the market around here , now I have too find some effort to tack 8 shoe's on some drafts .

Way to go GCreek. How much of that new ranch did you hay?

There are about 500 acres of hayland on our new place, we got it all. We will have covered close to 850 at 3 to 4 miles per hr by the time we are done.

You done too? :D

Lord willin' and the cricks don't rise I will be done baling tommorow. Not many drying hours in a day now but what we've got in the last two days is a lot nicer feed than I thought it would be.

Miocene, if it had froze solid with no snow I could have cut another 60 acres on this swamp.....maybe after round-up is done.

Shucks yeah :-) Did you get your baling done? Thank goodness, finished planting wheat as well....more like tonight than today. Not sure why, I don't think the market's been in the crapper this bad since that idiot Jimmy Carter enacted the Russian Wheat Embargo.....his son Barrack seems to be doing at least as bad. :x

Maybe 400 left to wean. Here's some that seem to have plum forgot their mama's. We don't precondition....too big of a hassle.....just give 'em their shots the day we pull them off the cows and get by fine.

Cal, that feed you've swathed looks like good calf hay. :P

As the haying goes I damaged a belt last thing last night so had to repair it before I got started today. But......I R Dun. :D :D :D :D :D :D :D
We are about 200 bales short to keep all of our calves but there is some local hay available at a decent price. Just have to decide whether we sell/donate a load or buy hay.

Next year.............
