GDAR Gameday 449

At the auction Yesterday some guys were saying that Mytty In Focus was having collection troubles and might be done. Anybody heard anything about that. His straws would skyrocket if it turns out to be true. The Select Sires bull Rito 6I6 got retired this year too. I got some of him in the tank.

That has been the rumor about In Focus for the last couple of weeks...

Yep-- some of that old semen is way more valuable now than it ever was back when the bulls were producing... Interesting how as this AI game has progressed over the last 40-50 years-- you see more and more producers that will dig down deep in their tanks and bring back some old bloodlines- that may not have been that hot an item back there 30 years ago--but have stood the tests of time and are back in demand....

Look at the last paragraph of page 3.

All the "experts" on this board have no information compared to the people that are working on a test for this issue.

The Angus breed is still strong even after all the defect issues have been resolved, except for the FCS, which is not a leathal defect & not a proven fact.

For those of you that think that linebreeding is king, I will not agree, but I will not disagree. Linebreeding can definitely add a benefit, but it can also cause problems if not done correctly.

I can't remember who was asking about the SAV Bismark, who is a top seller for the past couple years, because he's good, and I have seen some outstanding calves out of him, but......what about having GAR Precision 2536 in the pedigree? Isn't she the biggest sin in the Angus breed for producing so many great cattle before anybody knew about, wait a minute !!!!AMF!!!!

Get over the fact that not everybody is going to agree with how you are breeding your own cattle. If I don't care for the cattle someone has for sale, I won't buy them. Same thing goes for if you don't like my cattle, don't buy them. But don't go around telling everyone on the world wide web that they are dumb for what they believe is right. You're no much cooler online than you are in your own neighborhood.

BTW, there is plenty of In Focus semen available. But why breed to him because he carries "a light birthweight calf that allows the heifer to calve easily and turn into a good productive mother for her first time" syndrome & also "breed him to a good cow and still have a light birth weight calf that gains well and will be well respected by the cattle buyer in the fall or bull buyer in the spring" syndrome.

BTW I think Game Day would be a good sire to try. He has a good solid pedigree the back part. The original AAR New Trend was a good solid maternal bull that is a backbone for the breed along with the 1148 on the bottom side to add to that maternal basis. I bred for a guy last year that used him on heifers and he had good results. The calves look good so far, hopefully the heifers can keep up with the calves. I looked at them last week and they really pop later in life!!!

Easy there Sic em'! I casually mentioned that In Focus might be having collection troubles. I like him and have some of him in my tank. I sure wasnt running down your operation or anyone else's for that matter. Since I am pretty cool in my little nieghborhood i must be cooler than hell on the www! :P  :D

Most bull's that are in high demand are produceing semen but this time of year they are selling it also. I know our rep will tell us things like "If you want some you better get it ordered" All that is saying is there is a demand for it and it may be hard to get on a days notice. I also know that our rep can't just carry a "HOT" bull in his tank just in case they are special order only which means unless he has an order for a specific sire he can't just have some..
