Odd, you didn't answer any of my questions. :???:

What do you think calling people "backwoodsy" is, a compliment?

I have no problems following the rules either. Just think we could accomplish a lot more if/when the powers that be recognize that we live in two very different types of country. Eastern side is more like Minn. oerIowa. Western side is more like Wyo. or Mont.

Sure screwed up when they split this state didn't they?

I've been to North Dakota and sure like the southwestern corner. But then my family has lived in these parts since the whitemen first came in and were kicked back out. we came in again. we seem to like it here and don't look to be leaving.

We've dealt with problems from the east before. I imagine we always will, just like our red brothers.

So are you going to answer the questions or not? :???:

Quite frankly, YOU"RE not worth the time. :D

I found this posting after I wrote the above.

If I am not worth the time, why should I take time out of my life for you or any other hunter? :???:

If you can't answer the questions, don't worry, we won't chide you and call you stupid or anything. It's okay. We understand

I guess I won't take aymore time for you or your ilk either than.

Seems to me that my tax bill last month was nearly $8000 that I paid for the year, and I am sure you being such an upstanding citizen that you or your family dont take any kind of subsidy from the Govt? I am sure you own all the land that you ranch on no Govt leases, either Federal or State Everyone of my vehicles, trailers, etc have to have licenses on, so I am sure I helped pay for widlife, did you mow or ever mow any road ditches>? free public hay....there are many ways the public pays for wildlife. have you planted any trees that are cost shared? had a damn dug that was cost shared?

First if you paid taxes great, but paying your taxes does not grant you the right to hunt when and where you want.

Subsidies are given for a purpose and there are no riders that a person has to let anyone hunt. A person does not have the right to go in a welfare recips house because he paid taxes. A person does not have the right to go in a store and pick something off the shelf and take home because that business got a tax break to open. I suggest you look at subsidies and see that they are given with something in return to the gov agency. There is no hunting stipulation if one is to recieve the subsidy he is obligated to let someone hunt. Just as food is used as a political tool, subsidies are granted in return. Actually the ones benefiting from food subsidies are the people who eat. Remember the price freeze and what it did to beef prices.

Did you go to a public library, use a highway, go to a Nat forest, get an EIC, fish in a river or a State park, etc. If you did any of these you got a SUBSIDY.

Of this 8,000 you paid.......how much was specifically designated for wildlife? So if a person would pay 80,000 would he be entitled to hunt or fish ten times as much as you.

Remember just because one pays taxes there are no rights given in return for your taxes.

Where did I say that paying taxes gurantees me a place to hunt?
I have stated before it is a right to hunt, but a priveladge to hunt on private property.
It is to bad everything that is stated in replys is twisted and turned around to your benefit.

Then why bring up the 8,000 unless you think it entitles you to something.

Oh and do you go to the public library, use the highways, fish or hunt in public land? Remember if you do....................you got a subsidy.

If you would read rather than strike I was asked what I paid for wildlife, yes I use them just as you do, my point is we all pay for wildlife through different ways.
How about you do you drive or tow any vehicle or trailer that isnt required to be licensed? do you have rural water? Do you get any help from the Govt? How about Crop Insurance? stack yard protection? I am sure some of my money has helped you and I am glad because that is what it is suppose to do, you people act like the rest of society doesnt contribute anything to your existance.

I am sorry it is not about me and my activities. You can not defend yourself by attacking me.
You were the one making claims and how you paid taxes and it going for wildlife. So you have to back up your claims, not attack someone else.

The odd thing is you are attacking subsidies all the while you are on the recieving end.

Better luck next time.

That is just fine with me. I thank you.

Atleast with SJ, she has the open mind to see the other side of things. She might not agree with me, but she doesn't belittle someone to the point you have. You sir, are as blind as a bat when it comes to seeing the whole picture, hence while you are not worth my time trying to explain my opinion when I know you will not attempt to understand anything I type.

It seems to me I could say it was bright out at noon, and you would come back and say, "well..... it's kinda cloudly out. It is probably more dark than bright". Wouldn't you? You just type sh!t to get a rise out of people. Was that the rise you were expecting Jingle B*tch??? :D

they are treated differently JB.....i am guessing that is why there is a west river season and an east river season. How else would you like to be treated JB???? Do you feel you should get more hand outs out west than east??? More govt programs for the west or what? Why should you be special?

Has anyone noticed......LB dislikes Janklow, Rounds, Daschle, and im betting Johnson, Herseth.......Thune?? Is there any politicians here in the state you actually care for??? (other than yourself)

and i do like the Jingle B!tch PJOE.......that good!

Your right publichunter. For some reason, everyone feels the hunters think they deserve to hunt on someones land. I know of no one who feels this way and i have seen nothing from anyone saying otherwise. Some are just so insecure with themselves, they feel everyone is trying to screw them.

Well delightful kitty joe and southdakotawhiner I guess trying to have a simple give and take discussion is beyond both of you.

Seems like I read this before, but I'll use it too, it's a waste of my time.

After reading the posts of JB and PT I don't know that I can add anything. They seemed to cover it all. I will although answer the questions asked.

I pay taxes. I consider myself an upstanding citizen. I do have Federal, State land and have put in a cost share tree lot; I have CRP, have put in pipelines. I license my vehicles etc. It also costs me over and above the taxes, several thousand for damage caused by the wildlife.

When I asked the question I assumed you realized most pay taxes and was asking what you personally pay over and above taxes to wildlife? I believe very little of anyone's actual taxes go directly to wildlife.

I would assume by your post that I would be less than an upstanding citizen because of the subsidies I have received, and would more fit the definition of a "parasite" in your mind.

The Farm Bill is big and covers many things. I would infer from your post you feel you receive no benefits from the farm bill or receive any government subsidies. You may want to read up on the Farm Bill. If the Farm Bill only benefits the few farmers left, why is their a farm bill?

Some of the people who mow the road ditches pay the taxes on that ditch and to the middle of the road. It is not free hay. In fact I have never seen free hay in my entire life, whether it be taken from a federal, state or county road ditch. Much of what is in the ditch isn't worth cutting because they can't cut it until late because of wildlife. People who mow the ditches ought to be paid for the clean up, the bales are usually full of trash.

Your post has made me really think, if your thoughts are the majority, I don't foresee opening my property. The wildlife might belong to all but not my property.

Southdakotahunter, I feel real secure, no one can be screwed unless they are willing. If one is screwed and not willing it is a crime.

Did I miss something???? When and where has it EVER been a simple '"give" and take discussion with you?? You have the foresight of a Bat!

I believe we have found a new mineral more dense than gold.

That be YOUR head partner!

My quote was "I am sure some of my money has helped you and I am glad because that is what it is suppose to do, you people act like the rest of society doesnt contribute anything to your existance."

How would you assume that I think you are a parasite? from the above my point is you folks act like we (hunters) dont pay anything and we think it is our right to hunt and trespass on your property. I have NEVER heard anyone say that, I think that is a big myth you like to hide behind.

The Farm Bill is very huge and I know it real well so I dont think I need to read it anymore, Society (me include) receive huge benefits from the Farm Bill the problem is that it mostly goes to corporate operations and not the little guy, of which there are not many left. The benefits i receive from it is clean water clean air less erosion both wind and water.

The hay is free except for your costs to cut and bale, you dont need to pay anyone for it, I believe that the taxes you pay are for road maintance to repair where over weight vehicles or when we have moisture some dumb butt driving and tearing up a road or section line.
The hay may not be of high quality, but in these times of expensive feed, I am sure it is welcome? or isnt it?
If there is a lot of trash in the ditches that is too bad. I know where I live here it is always the people who live in the area are the polluters.

Why would my post make you think that your land will never be open again? You know as well as I do if someone offered you enough money you would allow them the right to tresspass, and SJ dont worry to me your land has always been closed and I agree with you 100% everyone owns the wildlife and you own your land, you do as you see fit with it. There will become a time when you will need hunters to manage the heard.
Unless we dont have "open Fields" and then there is no way to check what you are doing on your property. Maybe you are shooting, managing and wasting wildlife all on your own. If that is the case you deserve to pay the penality and in my opinion go to jail.

The problem I see is you hunter think the game and fish "manage" the deer populations. WRONG!!! Two years ago the nw corner of sd had a bad case of blue tongue. Did the gf&p reduce licenses issued? Dont think so. Like NR says its all about the cash...

Your problem is that you think we side with GF&P just because we don't agree with "every word" you say.

Take a look at the reports

http://www.sdgfp.info/Wildlife/hunting/Harvest/Projections.htm

Seems us "bad" hunters seem to manage the wildlife ourselves. IF you look at them, you will see a dip in success rates and tags a few years back.

Publichunter--My quote was "I am sure some of my money has helped you and I am glad because that is what it is suppose to do, you people act like the rest of society doesnt contribute anything to your existance."

Where did I say or suggest this? If you can find where I have said or implied that society doesn't contribute anything to our existence I will apologize. I am sure some of my money has helped you and I am also glad.

Publichunter--How would you assume that I think you are a parasite? from the above my point is you folks act like we (hunters) dont pay anything and we think it is our right to hunt and trespass on your property. I have NEVER heard anyone say that, I think that is a big myth you like to hide behind.

Heres your statement: Publichunter_______________________________________
I am sure you being such an upstanding citizen that you or your family dont take any kind of subsidy from the Govt?
How would you take this statement?

I have never said hunters feel they can trespass (trespass being illegal) on my land. In fact I would say 98 percent of the hunters ask permission. Although at a working group meeting a person was asked what have hunters' given up, he stated, hunters had given up the right to trespass on private property. We have bad apples in every faction landowners included. I am not sure what you are referring to when you say; hide behind or myth. I feel I have tried to be open and say how I feel.

Publichunter--The Farm Bill is very huge and I know it real well so I dont think I need to read it anymore, Society (me include) receive huge benefits from the Farm Bill the problem is that it mostly goes to corporate operations and not the little guy, of which there are not many left. I am glad you realize you receive some benefits, many just think by the name of the bill; farmers/ranchers are the only ones receiving subsidies or benefits from the Farm Bill. I would say there are other things you benefit from but no use belaboring the issue. I have a niece that works in DC in AG.

Publichunter--The hay is free except for your costs to cut and bale, you dont need to pay anyone for it, I believe that the taxes you pay are for road maintance to repair where over weight vehicles or when we have moisture some dumb butt driving and tearing up a road or section line.

If there is a lot of trash in the ditches that is too bad. I know where I live here it is always the people who live in the area are the polluters.

You are right they don't need to pay anyone for the grass they put up in the ditch. It is a benefit to those driving the road to have the ditch mowed ( to see deer etc.).It really makes my hair stand up when I see the word free. Free money, free whatever, nothing is free in this world not even freedom. If you know it is the people in your area who are throwing out trash( you must have seen them do it), why don't you turn them in? I don't know what difference it make who throws the trash, who ever does it, is wrong. I am sure some of the people who live here pollute but I also know that some of the trash comes from people outside the area.
It must be worth mowing or I am sure they wouldn't do it.

Publichunter--Why would my post make you think that your land will never be open again? Your statement--"You know as well as I do if someone offered you enough money you would allow them the right to tresspass,"

No, I would not allow anyone to trespass. So far no one has offered me enough money to sell the hunting rights.

GF&P asking permission to enter would have been enough for me to open my property; I guess my price was too high.

I hope that I never let money run my life but again as I have said before everyone has a price.

No, there will never be a time I need hunters for management, hunting has never managed the wildlife.

I feel the open fields is interpreted and used wrong by GF&P. If not why did law enforcement not enter land in NC when a person was missing, dogs tracked her to private property outside the city, yet law enforcement did not enter because law enforcement asked permission to enter and were refused permission. Why law enforcement didn't get a warrant, I don't know. Either they were denied a warrant or felt they didn't have enough for a judge to grant a warrant.
I would think human life is way more important than wildlife. I would also think Law enforcement agencies would work in the same manner.

I try to follow all the law all the time. I still have a right to protect my property as you do. You are right if I break the law I will pay the penalty and will go to jail if need be and rightly so.

Publichunter--Why did your post make me think about opening my land again? Reread your statement about being an upstanding citizen, if that is what the majority thinks of ranchers or farmers (not an upstanding citizen if they receive anything from the government), it really bothers me. I may disagree and get frustrated but I really try not to get personal.

I like being where I am at and don't feel bad because I don't have all the things the City has to offer, yet when I do go I don't complain about the cost of things( I have a choice to buy or not) or feel that things should be free because I am from the country. When I come to the city I pay the city sales tax, helping pay for things I never use. Do I ever wish I could just go out to eat and not cook? yes. Do I wish sometimes the movie hall was closer? Yes, but that's life, and I am not willing to give up what I have for that.

Public hunter--Oh no dont confuse them with facts, besides that is the GF&P information I am sure it cant be trusted or beleived......

The facts may tell you alot about wildlife numbers, but I am not blind yet.

I can see I need the hip boots on with alot of what has been said on here LOL I will post when I have more time as much had no merit or fact to pass as logical thinking.
