As Easter approaches, I found myself reviewing the story of Christ's betrayel, crucifixion, and resurrection. As I read the account of Peter's denial, I thought to myself "If Peter, the rock fails the Master, what chance does ol' Shortgrass have?" I am most aware of my shortcomings and my chances of failure. Then, I was almost surprised at the question that came to my mind. "Would I weep bitterly when I do fail?" How would you answer that question? Does it really bother you. All too often we just shrug off our failings as "oh well, too bad." Just something I had never thought of. Well have yourselves a might fine Easter Sunday, and a good rest of the week too.

Failure keeps us from being to sure of ourselves. We ask forgiveness for failures of the spirit.
Our day to day failures teach us to try again until it all comes together.

Good post Shortgrass. :D

Thanks Shortgrass. I had similar thoughts on Friday while we were reading the account of the Passion from John 18:1-19:42..

Today we find out "the rest of the story" in a much shorter text from John 20:1-9 In verse 8 it says about the other disciple "he saw and believed". Verse 9 goes on to say of Jesus "For they did not yet understand the scripture that He had to rise from the dead."

Believing even when we do not understand. That's what faith is all about. We trust God to fill in the blanks. Today especially we praise and thank Him for it.

I wish everyone a Good Easter Sunday. It is the granddaddy of all Sundays!

Thanks for a fine message, Shortgrass. It certainly makes a person think. Happy Easter, everyone. This is the most special of all Sundays.

I am reminded of a Life in These United States story that was in the Reader's Digest years ago. Two very well dressed ladies had arrived nearly late to a church service. The ushers were having trouble seating everyone that had come that morning. One lady said to the other, "It looks like the people that go to church every Sunday would stay home on Easter, so there was room for the rest of us." :-)

Thanks for the Easter message, Shortgrass. I've been pondering your question this morning....failures remind us we are not perfect and we can not save ourselves. Peter's denial of Christ is another example of our human failings. Only through the blood of the Lamb, Jesus Christ, will we find salvation.

Happy Easter to all here at Ranchers.
