Good luck Soapweed!

Soap, at least you caught your  before any harm was done. And maybe by posting about your experience you've helped someone else avoid the same fate. You're a good man to own up to your "senior moment" on this internet thing! :P

Senior moment my butt!! Ha, we had a gas can labeled Diesel. Well, the truck wasn't going to make it to the gas station so I dumped the 4 gallons in the tank. Time we got to the gas station, we were running a little funny. Welp, I filled the tank with diesel and went to start it. It took about 15 minutes and a lot of smoke, but she got goin'. Thank fully it was only about 1 gallon of gas to four of diesel, so the truck made it through without any major problems. Now I smell the can before I pour it in. :D

This is the pickup I drove to Yankton to the big WNAX pickup giveaway contest.

This guy could maybe use a new pickup, too.

But he would probaby turn down a new pickup, even if it was offered to him for free.

The 57 finalists were divided into smaller groups for tours of the WNAX radio station.

A lot of pickup winner wannabes

The tension is tight. A jar of all of our names is on hand, and it is a drawdown with four finalist names left in the jar.
As the names are called, we are reminded not to leave because there is more to come. When all of the "losers" are sorted out,
we get one more chance to be a finalist. There is a trivia quiz. We all get in line for the first round. There are 200 questions;
we get to pick a number between 1 and 200, and that is our question. One guy chose 57 because that was how many participants
there were. My chosen number was 58, because that is how old I am. Question number 58 was: "Who was the buddy
of Scooby Doo?" Since I didn't watch those particular cartoons, my answer was, "I have no idea."  In a way, it is shameful
that I am not that sharp, and in another way I am proud that I had better things to do than watch Scooby Doo cartoons. :-)
(As one neighbor has been known to say, "Show me a pool shark, and I'll show you a wasted childhood." :? :-)

Anyway, after the trivia champion joined the other four finalists, five door unlockers were given to those five people. Only one of the five
was the proper one for the giveaway pickup. An excited lady had the only one that honked the horn, and to the victor was given the spoils.

The winner was the lady with the brown top, third from the right.

This is also the same pickup that I drove back home. I did learn a valuable lesson. The weather was foggy and freezing on my return trip.
Signs along the highway read: "Bridges and overpasses may be icy." Highway 20 was clear and good traveling, and I scooted the pickup along
at the designated 65 miles per hour. Traveling was hunky-dory until I arrived at the bridge crossing the Niobrara River. It was solid ice
and my poor old pickup lost all control. Luckily no one was coming from the other direction as the pickup and I fishtailed all the way across the bridge.
It was close to hitting the guard rails on both sides, but we came away unscathed. I was thoroughly awake all the rest of the way home.

Too bad Soap...When you get a houseful of grandkids to babysit- you will need to get the BOOM and the Cartoon Channel- and then you can get reacquainted with Scoobey and Shaggy all hours of the day...

Tough Luck Soapweed. As Delmer Jasper used to say when he missed heading a steer at the local rodeos, "next time".

FYI, Hwy 20 is also the Chilcotin Hwy from Williams Lake to Bella Coola. :)

One more story about gas in a diesel. Our vol. fire dept. had someone fill a new 2 ton fire engine with gas. Didn't make it back to the fire station before ruining the engine.

I've put gas in my diesel tractor and just made it to the field with it before it quit... :dunce: No damage what so ever.....We were worried about the injectors, but it was all good... Except for hubbys' mood!
