I was visiting with a fella whose family used to raise sugar beets as well as other crops. He told me an interesting true story. It seems that lots of years ago a father who had worked hard and owned a sugar factory and a salt mine was retiring, and gave to one son the sugar factory and to his other son, he gave the salt mine. The one son soon squandered (drank up) the sugar factory. He filed bankruptcy and left lots of beet farmers unpaid for their crops. The second son had been successful with the salt mine and some 20 or so years later, to clear the family name, he paid off the beet farmers who had been left holding the bag on his brother's bad debts. I could not help but see myself as well as all humanity owing a debt that we could not pay because of our foolish sins; then Jesus steps up and pays a debt he did not owe. Isn't our Lord amazing? Wouldn't we be foolish to reject Him? Have yourselves a good Sunday mornin', and a good rest of the week too.
