Good Sunday Mornin'

We have a resident skunk around here :frowns: . I can't see it, but there is other evidence we smell every morning. I set a live trap where I think it is living, but it has been too smart for me. I'll keep at it until I find something too tempting for that rascal to resist. Persistence pays. That skunk will think it is going to get something real good, but, in reality, that will be the death of it. Sorta reminds me of how ol' Satan is always temptin' us with something to harm us :devil2: . We may out smart him today, but he'll be back with some other trick tomorrow. We must be persistent in our vigilance, because Satan is sure going to be persistent in luring us astray. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you, but don't turn your back! Well, have yourselves a good Sunday mornin' and a great rest of the week too. Don't forget to keep both eyes peeled  and remember that all that glitters isn't gold. :sure: :yeah: - :liar: - :drink: - :cowboy: - :pretty:

Shortgrass, you'll eventually get that 'lil stinker! 'Course he might get you too, so I'm gonna stand upwind just in case!  :D

A helpful hint I saw on another forum but have not tried myself is to use canned cat food as bait, but don't take the lid entirely off the can. Just open it a little bit to keep the skunk more preoccupied trying to get it out of the can. Otherwise a skunk is sometimes smart enough to eat the food without tripping the trap.

I usually use dry cat food because that's what I have when I notice I have skunks dining with the cats. And I always seem to catch a bunch of cats before I actually catch a skunk.

I'll bet about every one can come up with a skunk story. I had one come up on the porch and eat out of the cat dish. He seemed to enjoy the privilege for awhile and didn't put out any odor. I enjoyed my newly found pet but after a week or so of my hospitality he either was unhappy with the menu or had Rabies. When I walked out on the porch one morning to give him some breakfast he came after me showing his teeth. It didn't take me long to get my .22 out.

The "fruit" wasn't forbidden but Shortgrass might still be able to turn my story into a Sunday Morning Sermon.

LOL Thank you shortgrass AGAIN fits right into today.
Bob you showed the next step

Thank you BOTH what a great lesson
Hoping both of yall have a great day

OK Bob, you got me thinkin'. My Uncle and I were tearing down an old barn. As we were ripping up the floor, Uncle Bill just made the comment that this job was going good, and would be ok until we hit a skunk living under there. Within 60 seconds, I jammed my crowbar under the floor and hit something I knew was not a crossmember in the joists! My crowbar flew one way, and I went flying the other as fast as my 14 year old legs could turn (which was a pretty good clip). Somewhere behind me I could hear laughter peel the sky. Uncle Bill said that the cottontail rabbit that came out from under the floor wasn't near as scared as I had been! So I guess we fear things that are no threat to us, and flirt around with Satan and his deadly schemes.

Both of your sermonettes are great this morning, Shortgrass. If we flirt around with temptation, it can sure pull us down the wrong road. Instead of playing tug-of-war with the rope going back and forth, there comes a time when we need to dally up to something solid and hold our ground. God's Holy Word makes a pretty secure hitching post.

Very good Sunday discussions! However, whenever I think about Satan leading us astray, the best example I can think of is what the congress and president is trying to do to our country. I think he's ,unfortunately, very successfuly showing them the path to destruction. Last half of Shortgrass' post describes many of their actions and words to a T...IMO. Don't mean to start a fight here, but that's the way I see it.

Can't say I disagree with you at all, Cal. You and Shortgrass are right on target.

Satan operates by trying to fool us and cloud our judgement when it comes to choosing between good and evil. Satan is sneaky just like the skunk Shortgrass is after. He tries to slip in his influence without us really taking notice what is happening until it is too late. Much like many of our national leaders are trying to do to the citizens they are supposed to serve right now concerning health care and other issues.

Those who see what is happening and are quite concerned about it are being labeled "right wing extremists" by the media. Count me in as a "right wing extremist".
