First I want to thank Soapweed for covering bases for me last week. Was a great story and example of how the Lord has good plans for us. We were in Kansas (Savonburg) as my Son-in-law was candidating at a Bible Church there. They will vote today. Then we journeyed on to Broken Arrow, Ok to see sis & family. Home tonight, and tired of suitcase living!

Did you ever think about how some people are praying for rain, and others are praying it will stop? Some churches praying for pastors, some pastors praying for churches and some people praying for a spouse while others are praying to be loosed from spouses. People praying to be healed while others pray to be able to die. Does God answer prayer? I can name several people that are faithful Christians who at one time were among the lost that our church prayed for months and even years without any visible results, but now they are saved. That would almost make it seem that God does answer prayer. James 4:3 says that we ask God for things, and do not receive them because we ask amiss to consume it on our lusts. God is a loving father, and like any loving father wants to see his children prosper in a healthy sense of the word. He is more interested in building character than granting immediate gratification. He is no "genie in a lamp" god. It was rumored that once Abe Lincoln's aide saw him praying for victory in the Civil War. The aide noted out loud that many Confederates were praying to the same God for victory for the Confederacy. He asked if Lincoln really thought that God was on their side. Lincoln wisely replied the more appropriate question would be "Are we really on God's side?" Still a right appropriate question for us folks. Have yourselves a good Sunday mornin'. Nice to be home.

Thanks Shortgrass. I believe prayers are ALWAYS answered. We must keep in mind in answering prayers God gives us what we need. Not necessarily what we pray for. I think too many people give up on prayer when they don't see it from that perpective.

It's right there in the Lord's Prayer when we pray "Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven."

I'm sure you and Jan enjoyed your trip and are glad to get back home to rest up. :D There is no place like home!

Thanks shortgrass I have been doing and asking for prayers the past couple weeks.
I was reminded that God always answers us ...might not be the way we want but its His way or we have to wait on HIS time not ours.
We also have to be listening or we will never hear him.

1 Thessalonians 5:17
pray without ceasing

Glad yall had a good trip...it is always great to get back home.

Great message Shortgrass! :D Sometimes unanswered prayers are really the right answer too. Hope ya'll have a great Sunday and remember Garn and his wife in all our prayers and thoughts!

Thanks Shortgrass. And, thank you Soap for your excellent message last week as our fill in "pastor".

I know I don't tell you nearly enough Shortgrass how much I enjoyed your weekly messages, and for your dedication to us on ranchers.net. I told lazy ace early last Sunday morning, "I hope Shortgrass is ok, because there is not a Sunday Sermon."

I am glad you had an enjoyable and safe trip.

And, thank you leanin' H for the reminder for prayers for Garn and his wife. I hope and pray for the best news for you and your wife.

Thanks again Shortgrass. God Bless!

Cheers---

I'm with TTB, we don't respond as often as we should. Thank you for your dedication to providing us spiritual leadership Sunday mornings.

What I do enjoy is seeing "New" posters that come on to comment as it shows you are reaching many more then you think. :D

God answers our prayers on His time not ours. Some times it can take years or in other cases we have to be willing to listen to that small still voice to get the answer and be willing to accept it even if its not what we think we want.

God always hears and answers our prayers, but He does not always do what I tell Him to. If He did that would make me god and that is scary!
Interesting way to put it.
