Last Saturday afternoon, I enjoyed a trip with my future SIL and his friends

This picture shows an old man havin' way too much fun! When I started down the river, I was apprehensive, but soon I learned that our guide was very capable and the craft was stable, tough and dependable. After a few miles, I found myself looking forward to the rough water. The rougher the water, the bigger our grins. I am the moustache guy. I couldn't help but think of these familiar words in James Chapter one: "Consider it pure joy, my brothers, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith develops perseverance. Perseverance must finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything." This helps me better understand that if we have faith in our guide and vessel, that the river of life can be exciting, and the rough waters can be the best part. Now I want no part of these waters without that guide and vessel! Our guide is Jesus Christ, and our vessel is faith! Hop in and let's have some fun! Have a good Sunday mornin' and a great rest of the week.

Shortgrass, it does look like you're having a blast showing those young fellers that the old guy has still got what it takes! :D

I'm glad you were able to enjoy the trip last week with your future SIL and his friends, and bring the lesson home to share with us.

That looks like fun! We have a river gorge not far from here and I tubed it a couple of times. What a thrill! The trouble with using an inner tube is that you can get your backside smacked really hard on the odd rock . . . eeyousers!

This morning, I reviewed what I wrote last night, and would not like to leave anyone with the impression that I think God expects us to have a "YaHoo, isn't it fun" attitude when my house burned down, and the crops got hailed out. When we face the rough waters of life, it will be easier in a sturdy vessel with an experienced Guide. Our confidence in Him ought to show, and as we look back in retrospect, maybe some appreciation for the capable hands, and perhaps even a "what a ride" feeling. After all, I am not being swept helplessly down a raging river.

For the times when it feels like we are "being swept helplessly down a raging river", here is the song to listen to -

Thanks for the interesting viewpoint on life, Shortgrass. Glad to see you all had fun and survived the experience. Good picture; hope you didn't get sunburned. :-)

That is a very good picture. Then I speculate who took it??? Were the ladies up ahead in another raft challenging you guys to get the lead out?  8) :D
