This Sunday will find me in Kansas visiting our #2 dauthter and her family for the Christmas Holiday. This mornings message will be delivered by my sil, as he is pastor. It is very hard to teach our children that Christmas is not about recieving presents, is it not? These grand grandchildren sure are more excited about presents than anything else. I wish I had a majic formula. My oldest daughter gives small gifts to her children, and takes them on charitable endeavors. Grandma and Grandpa give small gifts too(and plenty of them and maybe a not too small one now and then). Our own recieved lots of presents, and somehow they have grown to celebrate the coming of God to live among men and to die for them. All I remember is always telling them the true reason for the season, praying consistently for them, loving the tar out of them, and God did the rest in spite of my many failures. My philosophy on Santa Claus is to always tell the truth. Santa is not real, he is a game we play, and we have fun doing it. Don't tell the other kids at school, because they think he is real; they will not believe you, and get mad at you. Someday they will know the truth, but I want you to know the truth always. Teach them early that mom and dad tell the truth, but the kids at school may not know what they are talking about. God is so Good! Well have a good Sunday mornin' and a fine New Year!

That was our philosophy from day one, there was never an Easter bunny either.

Wishing you and yours a Merry Christmas and many more Good Sunday Mornings Shortgrass.

Thanks again.

Thanks, Shortgrass. Here is kind of a nice little explanation of Christmas symbols.

We had a wonderful Christmas with family. Peach went through all of her old videos of our kids as they grew up. She edited and compiled several DVDs, and the finished project still includes nearly 30 hours of videos that each of our three offspring got as a gift. They seem quite thrilled with the outcome.

My dad and his lovely wife were among the guests for Christmas dinner yesterday. After eating "weigh" too much, he, my brother-in-law and I went out to the corrals to see some new bulls I'd bought. We checked out the calving barns that the Kosmo Kid, Sweet Potato, and Sunflower had recently cleaned, limed, and re-bedded with bullrushes (swamp hay). We then walked quite a ways out into the pasture to check out our remuda of horses and mules. Dad walks very well, using no cane or walker, which is nice to see at his age of nearly 88 years old.

It was a great Christmas, and we feel very blessed.

Have a wonderful last week of December and Happy New Year, everyone.

Good message. We were always taught that Santa is the spirit of GIVING (not receiving) and that you had to believe in Santa or you never got any gifts. We got a pretty good gift on Christmas day, even though we can all give more...
