Are waiting on something to calve? I'm waiting to start calving. We are waiting on spring, waiting on a rain, waiting on supper, you name it, but we spend lots of time on the ranch waiting. Time and again scriptures admonish us to wait upon the Lord, but our world is geared against that with high speed or instant everything! One of my favored passages is Isaiah 40:31 " but those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint." Waiting may not be appealing, but renewing my strength, or running without growing weary sounds fantastic. If God instructs us to wait, we ought to do it with the same enthusiasm we would if He said "charge!" I look at Saul who lost the kingdom because he got impatient and felt he had to do something, or his situation would get worse. Waiting beats starting off in the wrong direction, as he did. The kingdom was given to David who waited somewhere in the neighborhood of 20 years from Samuel's anointing until the Kingship became a reality. He had plenty of opportunity to "help the Lord out" and hurry the situation along, but he waited on the Lord. The key is it did become a reality. Waiting on the Lord is very closely related to hoping in the Lord. Not the kind of hope that you get with a Lottery ticket, but the kind of hope that is in that pregnant cow. She will calve, but you can't hurry her. This week I have enjoyed a good study about waiting on the Lord, and would encourage all of you to study it out a bit. Have a good Sunday mornin'.
