Bets, YOU GO GIRL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
What can I do to help??? The ranchersnet family is very proud of you!!! And wish you well. Maybe you can get OT as a bodyguard..... He has that Kevin Costner look...

Can do Katrina- even have experience with politicians- Last time I provided security for an official it was the Montana Governor of years back who proceeded to get drunk in a Ski Lodge bar - while he and his aides were sneaking out back to get high on pot- he slipped on the ice and broke his leg ... Came out next day in the paper "Governor Breaks Leg in Skiing Accident"....

Liberty Belle would be a piece of cake in comparison....

Congrats on taking a stand and being willing to take the heat and make a difference, LB! You would have my vote if I were in your district. Any friend of Fr Gary is a friend of mine, even if you are "Catholic Lite"! (Good one, JB!) I saw Fr Gary recently when we both attended a funeral in Sturgis. Fr Arnie officiated at the funeral itself.

I highly recommend the caller ID. I've got it now and wouldn't be without it. Helps weed out the telemarketers too! Only thing is the caller ID doesn't work with my call waiting. Doesn't identify the call coming in while I'm on the internet or talking with someone else.

Just wanted to wish you luck with your campaign if I were in your district you would have my support and vote. I have held public office for a four year term and it is a real eye opener. I would highly suggest caller ID really gets their attention when you answer calling them by name takes the words out of their mouth. Good Luck  :D

John SD: I saw Fr Gary recently when we both attended a funeral in Sturgis. Fr Arnie officiated at the funeral itself.
I subbed for one of the country school teachers a couple weeks ago and had one of Fr Arnie's young relatives in class. She told me he had a heart attack a week or so before that but was out of the hospital and doing okay. Had either you or Jinglebob heard that? And do you know how he's doing now?

Brad S: Don't get pushed imto being "anti law enforcement," You support law enforcement that conducts itself properly and legally. Open fields doctrine doesn't say leo may trespass, only in the event leo does trespass, the improperly gathered evidence is admissable. So leo equates no penalty with legal - dubious ethics indeed.
Not to worry Brad – my father was a cop and if the voters have enough faith in me to send me to Pierre, I'll be the best friend law enforcement has down there. I know what a dangerous and thankless job protecting the populace is.

I will, however, insist that they also follow the laws that the rest of us follow. And ANYONE caught violating private property rights will have a lot of explaining to do, as far as I'm concerned.

Oldtimer – thanks for the offer and I'll keep you in mind. I do have some built-in protection though, five big strapping sons who all wrestled, rodeoed and boxed, and a daughter who can hold her own with the best of them. I have a permit to carry a concealed weapon and generally hit what I'm aiming at, so I don't much worry about some squeaky voiced wimp lacking the guts to even give his name. 8)

Funny story about the governor – I remember hearing about that. It never ceases to amaze me how sometimes the story presented in the media has little relation to the actual events!

Thanks Katrina, but amazing isn't usually a word that I associate with myself - except for the amazingly stupid things I do sometimes! And don't ask… I try not to remind myself or anyone else of those stories!! :P

LB, I don't know any more news about Fr Arnie. I first heard it at church a couple weeks ago and understand he is back on the job and doing well.

LB, I have found with getting older (29) and the gray hair, that those mistakes are charecter builders. And alway remember those that don't make mistakes are people who don't do anything. It's those d*** mistakes we make twice that are the real head scratchers.
I would of never guessed you as a pistol packin momma... The more I get to know each and everyone here. The more faith I have in the humankind.

Katrina,
My pistol packing days date from the American Indian Movement occupation of Wounded Knee and a series of articles I wrote condemning what a bunch of out-of-state pseudo Indians were doing on the rez. I received some death threats for those articles and since those threats were a lot more credible than anything coming from a Tony Dean pal, given that there had already been some murders by AIM members, a gun dealer friend of mine talked me into buying a 357 magnum and learning to use it. And as a bit of advice, he said shoot for the chest - it's harder to miss than a headshot and will stop them dead.

I helped sponsor a series of speeches by FBI agent Douglas Durham, who went undercover and infiltrated AIM on the rez. Through the media, AIM made the threat that Durham would never leave SD alive and the last speech he gave was the one in my hometown. Security was intense. Law enforcement officers from local, state and federal agencies were everywhere and the speech went off without a hitch, but our local sheriff and my cop father told me to keep my pistol with me whenever I was out alone. It got to be a habit and I've kept my concealed weapon permit current, although I hate to fire that 357 without earplugs. Dang thing would make you go deaf if you had to shoot the whole clip.
