Ernesto- a true south Texas sounding name...You take the first 5-6 inches Haymaker, then send it on north- I'd settle for just an inch or two spinning off it up here.....
 
That would be ideal OT,Texas needs the moisture badly,parts of south TX are so dry the mesquites did'nt even leaf out this year.
These storms always wind up in the wrong place tho,IM hoping it gets in the gulf, and makes land fall where it is sparcely populated and gives Texas a good drink of water,then head on up thru the heartland and north/west giving everybody a break from the heat and drought,maybe it will help with all the fire problems...................good luck
PS I been lookin at the maps,yall are coolin off up there,still a hundred here.

Thanks for the headsup Haymaker, I've been runnin here and yon for the last several days and hadn't even checked the weather. Hope it don't blossum into a major deal tho......good ole fashioned tropical storm that dumps days of rain is what we need for sure. And like you I hope it hits a sparcely populated area. Don't need no more oil refineries tore up.
 
Lord I hope so. Here in NE TX we are in as tough shape as we've ever been. Seems like I'm moving some cows every few day to try to keep them in grass and water. I hate to put these numbers up here as our friends in the upper Great Plains will think we are crazy, but north of Sulphur Springs they are over 52 inches below normal for the past two years combined. According to our local paper over 11,000 cows have been shipped out of here in the past few weeks. I hate to wish any bad luck on anybody, but we need that hurricane to hit the TX coast and soon.
 
your so right sulpgur springs texas is bone dry.cant get no rain here at all.ive been watching winnsboro sulphur spring athens an emory sales those 4 sales are moving 12,000 a wk now i say we could stand a 20in rain w/o getting to muddy.maybe we will get rain soon.
 
Ya'll can have you a hurricane as long as you dont let it get to us like last year. I moved away from the coast over 20 yrs ago and here it come last year and hit us where it hurt!! I agree on the rains, just a low pressure would do good...tropical storm..;) yessss. We been getting thunder and clouds all day, nothing yet. Some friends down closer to Houston said they got some real storms all day. Just have to see what it all brings...

52 inches below normal for the last 2 years? Heck we could go 5 years and not get 52 inches.
 
I think the main thing is....They don't get 10 months outta the year that it's hot and evaperates their rain, Like we do. When we don't get it it makes a big difference. Also we don't have the night time cooling that stops the evaperation that they up north get. 3 to 4 mo outta the year our nighttime temps don't dip below 75 degrees that often. And durin the summer it's 80 and 90 degrees thru the night. NOT 40 degrees.

Makes a bigggg difference.
 
Yeasterday we got a small shower and were thankful for it. Today rain sat in and just drizzled off and on about all day still continuing tonight. Hopefully we got at least an inch but as dry as it has been we are all happy for any rain we get. :-)

Looks like we got us a line of thunderstorms movin in from the north along with a cool front. don't know how much cooler but we'll take what ever it will bring. Hope some of it lands on you. :D

I guess Ima gonna hafta move to east TX to get a lil rain,weather people got my chances at 40% today and tomorrow,I sure will be glad to see this summer end,it goes down in the record books as the hottest/driest on record...............good luck
 
I was just watching the news- and now they think the worst part of Ernesto could be around Reader 2's and nr's area... Predicting possibly up to 10" of rain and severe flooding in the Virginia, D.C., Delaware, east coast area... All a little too far east to do me any good......
