University of Nebraska-Lincoln Chancellor Harvey Perlman and Nebraska Director of Athletics Shawn Eichorst issued the following statements in response to recently published comments by Nebraska Head Football Coach Bo Pelini.
Harvey Perlman, Chancellor:
"I am aware of the publication of Coach Pelini's comments, I am disappointed and in discussions with Shawn Eichorst about addressing the issue."
Shawn Eichorst, Director of Athletics:
"I am disheartened and disappointed by the 2011 comments published today attributed to Coach Pelini about our dedicated and passionate fans and supporters. I have spoken with Chancellor Perlman and I have addressed the situation with Bo and expressed our deep concern."

this article says it best, husker fans still think it is 1996, still think they are title contenders, still have that arrogance about them... wake up, NU is not relevant in the scope of football... they are a mid pack team in the 4th best conference in the world...
was Bo's rant deserved, hell yes... was it wrong to record it secretly, hell yes.....was it cowardly to release it, yes....BUT the guy has proven time and time again he is a drunk hot head with a foul mouth and a short temper... nothing that I would think of when I think of the history of Nebraska football.... this whole deal proves to me that Bo if a fool, Bo is going to be let go if he loses two more like this, and the "self proclaimed greatest fans" are really fairweather fans and the true colors are showing in these tough times in Husker town

as much as I hate Nebraska, I respect Osborne... and Bo is anti everything that Tom was.... Hey jigs, I guess if Bo is nothing you would think of when you think of Nebraska football, you really don't know much about the history of Nebraska football. You only know what you want to know, what's put under your nose to smell and nothing any deeper. If you look a little deeper into the program and most any winning program around, it isn't as "Peachy" as Tom Osborne made it out to be.
Jigs, I don't know you but, if you have a family, like mine, that has been true Husker fans, since before Bob Devaney turned around program in ruins, then keep enlightening everybody about true Husker History.

K State could win the next 5 National Championships in a row (yeah, RIGHT), and still, the only thing they would know about class is that you skip it on Mondays and Fridays.

University of Nebraska-Lincoln Chancellor Harvey Perlman and Director of Athletics Shawn Eichorst issued the following joint statement today:
"The comments made by Head Football Coach Bo Pelini in 2011, published Monday, are unfortunate and deeply concerning to us, as they would be to anyone who loves this university. Our coaches, staff and student-athletes must be held to a high standard and Coach Pelini's remarks were unfair to the legions of Nebraska fans and not what we expect from a representative of this university. Former Director of Athletics Tom Osborne became aware of these comments and the existence of a recording more than a year ago, and addressed the matter with Coach Pelini. We have observed, and many others have commented, that Coach Pelini's demeanor has significantly improved since the time of this incident. Coach Pelini has given us his assurance that he understands the seriousness and inappropriateness of his comments. We believe he is sincere in his apology and in his regret. We are prepared to put the matter to rest. Our football student-athletes, coaches and staff deserve all of our support and we know the Nebraska faithful will be there for them."
