Well I couldn't find my previous post but just giving an update on hfr. When I first hobbled her I was to nice and gave her about 18 inches of room. She could still move around and slam him into the fence so I tied her up tight and only allowed her about 6 inches to walk. She has been baby stepping around the coral for a good 3 weeks now but the twine finally broke and she decided raising a calf may not be to bad. Ol' Rip :evil: she will be the first oneon the sale barn bus thisfall but at least she will raise this calf.
 
I know those kind of cows really make a person cranky but in my experience she could be a great mother next year. She might be worth another chance.

'Been there and done it too. I got a chuckle out of your update on this heifer.

I don't blame you for being so convicted about her eventual demise.

However... from personal experience, by fall the memory fades and it's my guess you'll find out if she is a repeat offender next year!
 
One heifer refused her calf this yr. No problems delivering, she just did not want it.

Hanging weight was 305#.

Had oxtail soup the last 2 nights. It was good.

The calf sneaks in a few sucks on the other cows every now & then.

I still have 1/4 unsold but that will go in $50 & $100 lots when she is cut & wrapped.
