It was a hot day for November 6. Britt and I trailed 86 fat haired up bred hfrs from the town pasture all the way to the yard at home. About 15/16 miles. I thought for a while we might have to leave them at the north end of the ranch but got them some water and once it started to cool off they came along nicely. The first 6 miles is along the hiway but we didn't get them onto the road until after the oil rig that was moving through was done. The traffic was pretty light the rest of the day. Tam flagged for us on the road and moved our truck and trailer home. My Dad and Mom drove up and brought our dogs when we got off the hiway so they had fun and helped out the rest of the way. The pup Ace that I got from Randi is enjoying starting to work although yet he is mostly having fun. Every once in a while I see his instincts kick in and he makes just the right moves whether he knows it or not. :D
We will treat them for parasites in the morning then move them over the hill with the second calvers for the start on winter.
Sorry no pictures I forgot the camera. :(
It was a much nicer day for riding then Wednesday in the wind but the cattle moved good that day.

We pregged on Thursday and Friday. Thursday was shirtsleeve weather, 4 hour downpour during the night that I'm very thankful wasn't snow and a cool day Friday with a little breeze out of the east.
We went to a memorial yesterday for one of the aviating pioneers in this area. After flying bush planes here for over forty years the 73 year old decided that a Harley was what he needed. It was not a good decision.
It was cold all day.
A skiff of snow last night.

It was a little cooler for us as there was an east wind. It was a perfect day to move cows. By the hair on the cattle this fall it just might be cold this winter.

Your cow's winter dress kind of matches our's summer attire. :P

For an old softy you do kind of live in a harsh environment. It did get a couple of degrees below freezing here last night but is is already turning out to be promising for shirt sleeves again today.

The highest I saw here on the thermo was 67-- but the old sun was shining down warm... We were shipping 350 head of calves at a neighbors- and the coats came off around 10AM- and by noon some were stripping off shirts and working in T shirts...

Sounds like that is all about to change about tomorrow with a cold front moving down from Canada- bringing rain/snow/freezing rain-- and highs in the 30' and lows down in the single digits and teens...

It felt like 80 or better but maybe we are just getting acclimatized to cooler weather. :D

Last nice day today, we have been scrambling to get things done before the snow flies. Sad when you get your summer in November, but I sure liked the weather these past few weeks .. :D
