wish the rain would space out a little so dad could get his corn and beans planted and maybe get started mowing hay. never will complain about to much moisture again after last year .cows are chest deep in grass and bulls are turned out ready to get in the routine of summer checking cows and baling hay and hang n out with my 2 boys, and maybe a couple ranch rodeos .hope all is well on your outfits

Here in the Big Muddy of southern Sask it's dry. The snow left and the dust started blowing. We missed the rains that hit Nebraska the Dakotas and eastern Montana last weekend. We seem to have missed the rains they had in southern Alberta the last couple days and Sw Sask today. :?

The hay is just sitting. guess it's good weather for the son's graveling crew. They are covering about 10 miles a day. should be done by the end of summer. :D

It was what we call dry here until Monday afternoon. Close to 3 inches of rain since then. Creeks are higher now than when the snow went. Most of the cows are on grass. Didn't get the yearlings hauled to their pasture before I stifled myself and now it's too muddy. We have a fair amount of hay left over in case this stays a while.

High spots on the meadows needed this. :D

Hope you get some rain soon BMR.

Didn't get a whole bunch in this SW spot - it looked wet with puddles but turns out it was like pouring water on a pile of flour. And with the wind we'll have dust blowing by tomorrow.

Finished planting corn last Friday ( 1,800 acres ) and should finish soybeans today ( 600 acres )

Been raining about every 2nd or 3rd day so the pasture is about 2' tall and thick - - - hay is chest high but with rain forecast 4 out of the next 6 days I have not seen any cut yet.

Calves are growing like weeds - - - 15 bulls 3 heifers out of 18 cows - - - one frozen but one set of twins - - - heifer that lost her calf is letting all the calves nurse so I will give her another chance - - - her calf was born at +14F with freezing rain that turned to sleet and when I found it she was trying to clean it up but I gave up after 5 days and 3 vet visits.

We ended up with 3.3 inches of rain over last weekend. Saved this area for the time being. Corn is all planted and just part of the cattle left to get to grass. Life is good. Chances of rain every day for the next week.

We ended up with right at 5 inches of rain. Looks like all the corn is in. Not sure what the farmers are planting now. Could be soybeans, or maybe edibles, or maybe even popcorn. I saw last night, when we went into Cody, that there is a pivot of potatoes going in close by.
We are finally getting grass. First cows come in Tuesday, the last bunch come in the 1st.

Lots of folks have turned out the cows to grazing around here. We're holding on as long as we can. We have the feed and want the grass to get a real good head start. Hopefully it pays dividends this fall.
We had about .5" rain last week, the only rain so far. Still got a few days of farming to get the greenfeed put in.

3.75 inches here since thurs am, very timely for the hay, most are done seeding other than the few of us that have cattle and are putting in some greenfeed or timeing some for swath grazing next winter.

Got close to 2" of rain over last couple weeks, sure made thing green around here. Hope guys south of I-70 got some rain they are the ones that really need it. Planted 300 acres of dry land corn for a guy and had good moisture in the ground. I actually got rained out for three days :D Starting to plant 300 acres of milo for me and dad have descent moisture in the ground to get it up but will need more. It's hot here today 90 with wind blowing 20 mph but its humid for this area so maybe we will get moisture tonight.

What's the saying about fog and the next rain after? 90 days? Was foggy here the last 3 mornings.

Flood Watch for Central Iowa overnight into the morning. Just NE of my location had 5 inches of rain overnight. Not sure how much rain I got here, Mom Nature rolled me out of bed around 3ish or so with thunder and lightening. Closed my window, buried my head under the pillows and went back to sleep

Hasn't gotten above 60 here all day

A bit on the chilly side here right now, frost last night and likely again tonight. The corn is just poked through so it should still be O.K.

We had .65" of rain this week, just perfect to get the crops started and the soil-applied herbicides activated.

The hay is knee high and looking good, far better than last year when it was short and thin. Orchard grass is heading out.

But half an hour east of us they got a gully-washer that moved tons of topsoil off the hills down into the hollows and into the creeks. Absolute disaster. Not to mention that the corn and bean seed is all down at the bottom of the fields as well.

around 6" in the last 10 days. Turned out monday, been building a trailer all week get it done then put in 160 acres of corn chop or graze most all of it may combine some.To muddy anyhow for field work.

We have been in pretty fair shape...Lots of moisture last year- lot of old grass- a winter that gave us the 4th most snow on record- and some early spring rains ...
But the last few weeks of never ending wind has really been drying things out...
Just finished getting the wheat seeded in the last few days-- and branded today...While we were moving the cows over to the summer pasture this afternoon- the thunderheads were building and you could smell rain...
About 5PM it turned loose and gave us over an inch of rain :D (and a little pea sized hail)...
And a prediction all week for showers and thunderstorms... :D The next 3 weeks are usually our wet period...

The weather is great for haying which is in full swing plenty of hay this year custom round bales are costing almost $20 just to tie it up in the field. Finishing up on AI. Some of the cows that were kept after the drought are going to be late calving late summer calves its going to take a couple of years to recover from the drought for the people that tried to keep some of their registered cattle. Cattle prices are actually lower than this time last year and I do not see a demand to restock here ( Ozarks) Some of the sale barn family's are on vacation or looking for cattle as far as Canada.

For the past 20 years I have sold 20 registered bulls a year by the end of April I am usually sold out. I sold two bulls in January and that's all so far

Really dry here, .50" last week and that's it for the spring, had very little snow either. Cattle are going through pastures like crazy. We'll be ok for grass (I think) as we had old feed left, but water is spooky. Irrigating water is horrible too.

It's gone from quite dry 10 days ago to really wet at present. Rain gauge got broken somehow so don't know exactly how much we've gotten.

Creeks are higher than when the snow left and that takes 4-5 inches of rain. Should make a hay crop.

things have sure changed for the better here. we ended up with 3.2" last weekend and close to a half inch last night with chances of more all this week.
