How to catch an elephant

My Pappy used to tell this one,

To catch an elephant, first you have to dig a biiiiiiiggggggg hole in the ground. Then you fill it with ashes, and sprinkle peas on the ground all the way around the hole. When the elephant goes to take a pea, you kick him in the ash-hole.
