Besides, why should I cut a good bull calf just because 2 bovines prior to him got snake bit?

So, he was a bit heavier than he should have been.....I'll bet you're a bit heavier than you should be also..........

The GMa dies of snake bite......and the momma popped out her hip calving and that's not uncommon nor a ' trait'......

I can read. His mother needed assistance and his grandmother had calving issues. Popping out a hip is NOT a common calving occurrence. That's two generations of calvining issues--plain and simple.

I have talked with several purebred breeders that have stated that they don't have any cull bull calves. And to their credit they have some wonderful cattle and an excellent reputation. So I am not one to argue with success. However, I do have cull bull calves and I do cull several every year. I for one would like to see a lot more purebred bulls castrated as the market is flooded. We could even make more money selling cull bulls at weaning and only raise a few good bulls to sell at herd bull prices. To take a cull bull and invest feed and acres in him and then sell him for $1500 at 16 months is losing money. As well as reducing the price on the good bulls due to supply and demand.
