Huskers/mildcats

The Huskers host K-St. Tuesday night in Lincoln. What's your call, Jiggsy? I say the Huskers by 5

I don't know, K-States on the up and up with all the gang bangers that Huggins is bringing in. Do you think Bobby will stay in Lincoln and party or head back with the team on the bus?

could go either way, but I think we will prevail.....

we got our bruthas droppin' 3's, instead of droppin' a cap in whites ash.

so I win the bet?? it was not a 5 point margin. did we have a bad night shooting?? I never saw the game, or any highlights.....

times must be tough, when a football town is bragging up their roundball team !!

last I saw KSU was 3rd in the big 12....with this win, how far up does that move Nowledge U ?

it didn't sting near as bad as the 30 point thump Gay U gave us in Lawrence the other night.... as much as I dislike Nubraskuh multiply that by 4billion, and you see where I sit on the Jayhawks.

Doc figured out your defense and our center laid 41 on you. I listened to it on the net.

Sandhusker, THuggs bullied his way through the CUSA to mediocrity, the CUSA is more of a finesse conferance, but you can't bully B12 teams. THey'll steal an occasional win with the 3 ball just like MUserville, but gimicks won't prevail in the B12. Remember Wolly did well with this team and they're all back. Wolly was like Altman, the sort of class guys they won't abide in Manhattan. What they don't understand, just because you're dirty doesn't mean you will win.

THe simple answer is: a Jayhawk is where one ascends from Illinois, no seriously, you ugly suit guys have the great Bruce almighty. Thank goodness you got rid of that deadweight Self.

A Jayhawk was a warlord faction based in Northern Kansas that fought for freedom and equality - all the stupid $hit like that. If you want to hate, just pretend Jayhawk has something to do with chickens like the clever drones in Manhattan do.

THis Saturday KSU hosts Kansas University in Manhattan Kansas where ksu has lost 23 consecutive games to Kansas in 23 consecutive years on their own home court. KSU is stealing a page from Nebraska - wearing black in the stands. Nebraska wears black to indicate the opponents untenable fate; KSU is wearing black so the many many blue shirts of Kansas fans won't be so visible and embarassing. I think I get it why Jigs hates Kansas.

Nope.. Not an Illini fan just didn't like Self when he was there... Can't explain it except maybe it has to do with his Tulsa job. I truly dislike coaches who walk out on contracts like he did, like Barnett did to Northwestern, Urban Meyer did to Utah and the school he was at before Utah... I just don't like it, find it to be classless. Heck, like Williams did to Kansas and Weber did to SIU.. Just believe that contracts are things to be lived up too. Than these coaches moan when kids change who they commit to before national letter of intent day, just doing the same thing the coaches do. Heck, the coaches will recurit a kid, tell all the kids they are staying for the rest of their contract via e-mail while they are sitting in the airport waiting to go to the new place to sign the contract.. If the coaches word means nothing than why should his recruits?

So, in a round about way, I am hating on KU at all, just wanted to know what a Jayhawk is..

If you want to see me hating on a program you can chalk up Notre Dame with a big old bullseye on the cloverleaf... But beyond that I really don't dislike too many Universities except University of Illinois and University of Montana and the darn schools that turned down little old me when I was a high school senior but its hard to hold much animosity towards Brown and Penn.

oh boy!

the ku / KSU game is Saturday??? got a big community poker game in town, so I bet that will be on the tube!

Hell Brad, just come on down, $25 buy in, covers all the food and booze you can stomach and buys you 50 chips......guaranteed to be a good time! even promise not to key your car if the gayhawks win!

If I drive my feedtruck (not that I'd want to ride 5oo miles in it) you could key the hell out of it and knock some mud/manure off it. I wish I could be there, but I hear tix are impossible. I was there for the first 3 wins of the streak back in Ahearn - a win there really meant something. I really miss the days of Kansas/KSU being a national grudge match like Duke/Carolina. Honestly, duke and Carolina both benefit from the fact they are both good. I just hope THuggs leaves the program in a couple years and they can hire a guy like Nebraska hired to build a program.

As for poker - I haven't made the switch to Texas holdem, and the whole world has left me behind. I can drink most of $25 worth of hooch, but me and the rest of the world are better off if I don't.

As for coaches leaving contracts - sure a deal is a deal, that is strong wisdom. The other side is do you really want a coach that wants to be elsewhere but can't go? I am a huge fan of Roy Williams, but if after a dozen years he agonizes over leaving or staying, he isn't a real good fit where he is.

I understand that, just don't do a barnett and sign an 8 year contract and leave the next year.. Its BS.. Just can't stand it.. I think anyone at Illinois who didn't think Self would leave if the Kansas job came open was fooling themselves just as if anyone from Northwestern thought Barnett wouldn't run to Colorado in a second if it was offered to him was nuts (In retrospect, he was probably doing things at NU just like he did at CU. I was at Northwestern when Barnett was there and there were a few iffy things that happened but he was still a turd for how he handled leaving).

And I will never hate KU.. Afterall, that Manning led team won me 500 bucks in a pool back in Junior High.. My brother was a curropting influence I tell you... My highschool english teacher was a tutor of Manning's at KU, as a kid she lived next door to the Culberts in Holcomb Kansas. She was the most liberal creature I have ever seen and took it out on conservative kids in the classroom. Drove me nuts but still managed to get an A in her class..

I played playground ball with Danny Manning for a couple years while at Kansas. Danny is the good side of college sports. Self was a grad assistant at Kansas back then, but I didn't know him. You may know Danny is some dirrector of player development or something like that.

Unless Barnett was fleeing sanctions like Kelvin Sampson did at OU, he should have stayed put at NW. He had a good gig, but I think he didn't like the academic standards. I hate on Notre Dame too. Several years ago K State kicked the hell out of Colorado St only to be criticized for bullying nobodies, but when Notre Dame played Colorado State everyone acted like CSU was Nebraska. Back when Snyder was criticized for playing cupcakes at K State, I wish he would have called out for a game with Notre Dame and Penn State every year anywhere.

Don't even get me started about the leftist leanings at Kansas - too fricking late - now I'm pi$$ed. THey think they're all sophisticated like Harvard if they're socialists. I had an English class where the prof was promoting making the Z --- (big ranch in flinthills) a national park. He kept talking about saving it from rancher exploitation. One of the ranchers grazing the Zbar was my Dad with Owl creek cattle and land stewardship runs deep in most cattlemen including my old Dad. I tolerated this academic assault for about 6 weeks - he was pissin on most of what I consider sacred. Ranching and family, and he would have gotten round to disrespecting God if given enough time. Finally, after 6 weeks, I demanded support for his charges of land abuse and rancher greed. When he said those issues didn't belong in English class, I got more and more angry. I ended up calling him everything but a white man and threatening him. So we go before the Dean, and I'm armed with the student handbook detailing academic freedom. He shouldn't have been bringing politics into an unrelated class. All the Dean wanted to talk about was "my outburst." I asked if they'd be critical of a black student for a similar outburst after 6 weeks decrying black welfare reliance. Leftist Lemmings. I'm better off if I don't think about some things too much.

I have to agree with you Brad on how quick a team went from cupcake to powerhouse, depending on when they played KSU or a storied tradition team......

if Bishop would have just hung onto that ball in 1998!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

liberal teachers pushing thier views instead of an education is a pet peeve of mine also.
my oldest is an 8th grader, and she was sitting at the table telling us about the oppression of slaves, and how they were freed, but never "REALLY FREED" started talking of the way they are held back and forced to live in slums. So I set her straight, and told her to tell the teacher I think she is totally wrong

I am waiting on a call from the teacher.

Right here if Gordon Nebraska, my 4th grade girl's teacher, Mrs THeiss, told the class about the mandatory asessment tests, "if you don't like them, tell George Bush, he's the one that is making you take them." Either that teacher is very stupid or dishonestly missing the fact that the tests are a response to just plain bad teaching. How about blaming bad teachers and the NEA for the need to test? one can't set everything straight.

Jigs, I'd encourage you to get involved, all that's necessary for evil to triumph is for good people to do nothing. I have difficulty behaving civilly when I'm getting pissed on while being told its a rain storm - I know its a real weakness of mine. Often times I have to ignore some things simply because I haven't the diplomatic skills or demeaner necessary to keep the focus on the issue rather than my demeaner.

Brad,
I can top you on that one....
The teachers in the school district approached the school board and wanted a 4 day school week... Even though the district is clear to the bottom of the no child left behind scoring in reading and math.. And to the bottom on any act or sat test given. We had our first stabbing due to gang activity this last week.. Bomb threats are the norm....... Kids went in front of the school board to plead about how the bomb threats were disruptive and was making difficult to try and learn.........
