I´m about to put this beast to work at the ranch.

:D Should take delivery on Wednesday, it´s called an Unimog.

The thing is really versatile. Besides doing 60 kph on the highway, it's got a bed that tilts to the back and both sides for dumping loads, a three point hitch and power take off, built in air compressor and a 10 ton winch.

I can think of about a dozen uses right off the bat. I´m anxious to see it at work. Should be interesting to move it as well. It´s a former military vehicle and we´ve got to go through a Naitonal Guard checkpoint to get to the ranch. Wonder if they´re gonna stop us?

Interesting bottom pic. A Massey a Dodge and a Bobcat.

I think the Unimog was British built weren't they?

German. Mercedes to be exact.

The guy that sold it to me has a ton of spare parts, even a complete engine.

I did this deal a few months back but agreed to let him hang on to it for demos (he was refurbishing a second, older model) and I could tell today talking to him that he regrets selling it. I think he probably let it go too cheaply for this market.

I really like the looks of it too.
So what's the price of something like that?

Like most vehicles, pricing depends on year built, condition, etc. I did some searching on the internet when I first looked at the thing and the prices were all over the map. I finally gave up and decided that if I liked it, then I should buy it. I´d never seen one for sale here though I had seen a few working for the Venezuelan Army. This one is actually X-army.

I paid 120,000 bolivares which at the time would have been about $24,000. It´s got a 200 hp engine and while it´s not a tractor, it should do most things a tractor will do, plus a few more.

looks pretty good. even got a 3 pt. are you going to pack a latter with you so you can get at whats in the box

It would really muscle a guy up haul small squares in it. :?

upper body workout throwing the squares and lower body workout getting in and out of the cab

I remember these were all the rage in Scotland in the early 80's. We had a dealer close to our farm - consensus was they were good for flat ground but too heavy and lacking traction on steep ground. They continued to use them in southern England in the arable areas hauling sugar beet etc until the Fastracs came in. The Fastrac is a vastly superior machine in that it was designed for farm work - but hate to think what they cost

Heck no. I´m gonna enjoy watching that dump truck feature as I decide which way to make the mess on the ground. :D

I´d not ever heard of the Fastrac.

How does it ride, Whitewing? If it's like a new Ford assbeater.....you can keep it! :D

Don´t honestly know yet. But from the looks of it, I´d guess it´ll be a tad rougher than a Lexus. :D
