Kind of a sobering poem!

"I AM METH"

(This was written by a young Indian girl who was in jail for drug

charges, and was addicted to meth. She wrote this while in jail. As

you will soon read, she fully grasped the horrors of the drug, as she

tells in this simple, yet profound poem. She was released from jail,

but, true to her story, the drug owned her. They found her dead not

long after, with the needle still in her arm.)

Please keep praying for our Children, Grand Children, Teens, Young

adults. Understand,............this thing is worse than any of us

realize...

My Name: "Is Meth"

I destroy homes, I tear families apart, take your children, and

that's just the start.

I'm more costly than diamonds, more precious than gold, The sorrow I

bring is a sight to behold.

If you need me, remember I'm easily found, I live all around you - in

schools and in town.

I live with the rich; I live with the poor, I live down the street,

and maybe next door.

I'm made in a lab, but not like you think, I can be made under the

kitchen sink. In your child's closet, and even in the woods, If this

scares you to death, well it certainly should.

I have many names, but there's one you know best, I'm sure you've

heard of me, my name is crystal meth.

My power is awesome; try me you'll see, But if you do, you may never

break free.

Just try me once and I might let you go, But try me twice, and I'll

own your soul.

When I possess you, you'll steal and you'll lie, You do what you have

to -- just to get high.

The crimes you'll commit for my narcotic charms Will be worth the

pleasure you'll feel in your arms, your lungs your nose.

You'll lie to your mother; you'll steal from your dad, When you see

their tears, you should feel sad.

But you'll forget your morals and how you were raised, I'll be your

conscience, I'll teach you my ways.

I take kids from parents, and parents from kids, I turn people from

God, and separate friends.

I'll take everything from you, your looks and your pride, I'll be

with you always -- right by your side.

You'll give up everything - your family, your home, Your friends,

your money, then you'll be alone.

I'll take and take, till you have nothing more to give, When I'm

finished with you, you'll be lucky to live.

If you try me be warned - this is no game, If given the chance, I'll

drive you insane.

I'll ravish your body, I'll control your mind, I'll own you

completely, your soul will be mine.

The nightmares I'll give you while lying in bed, The voices you'll

hear, from inside your head.

The sweats, the shakes, the visions you'll see, I want you to know,

these are all gifts from me.

But then it's too late, and you'll know in your heart, That you are

mine, and we shall not part.

You'll regret that you tried me, they always do, But you came to me,

not I to you.

You knew this would happen, many times you were told, But you

challenged my power, and chose to be bold.

You could have said no, and just walked away, If you could live that

day over, now what would you say?

I'll be your master, you will be my slave, I'll even go with you,

when you go to your grave.

Now that you have met me, what will you do? Will you try me or not?

It's all up to you.

I can bring you more misery than words can tell, Come take my hand,

let me lead you to hell.

to my friends on ranchers.net....I took care of a young woman who came to our emergency room by way of the sheriffs department...she was "sick" and was obviously scared, lost, hungry and in serious trouble!! In hearing her story, she told me about her addiction to meth beginning at age 14...folks, she is now 23 and she has lost EVERYTHING!!! She had no home, no money, no family (dad is a truck driver and not around much and has pretty much given up on his only child and mom died when this gal was very young), no friends and her "boyfriend" was sitting inthe county jail on drug charges!! She did not even have a ride home to billings....a good 3 hour drive from here!! We nurses took care of her as best we could and when she walked out the door into the cold wind with only a thin jacket to keep her warm, there was not a dry eye in the house!! I could only pray that she would "find her way" to a better life and a clean life!! She is already missing half her teeth, is extremely emaciated and her body is shutting down!! I would have given anything for the many kids out there with the "can't happen to me" attitude to have had the opportunity to speak with this girl....what lessons they would have learned!!

Thanks for posting. I am sorry we have to...this meth problem is truly an epidemic and without a doubt a scourge on society. I was heard the head of the Emergency Dept. of one of the hospitals in Bismarck speak this week about "youth presentations" to the emergency dept.

It's amazing how many things they see, and he said that about 25% of their daily cases are directly due to meth, and a vast majority are impact of use. He said that rape (both of females and males) has drastically risen, as has the cases of trama and STD's since the rise of meth, and they think they are directly impacting the rape, STD, and trama stats. I think it's so sad.

I'm amazed at how God spares the meth makers....their messing with and mixing of chemicals, and resulting vapors and reactions alone would kill the majority of us, but you never hear of these fools knocking themselves off...I almost have to ask how God can be so sparing???

The example of this that is freshest in my mind, was a meth cooker drilled a hole through one of the largest bulk anhydrous ammonia tanks in SD...the owners realized there was a problem, when it was empty. When looking at surveillance cameras they soon realized why. You know, with the amount of pressure on the hole, there should have been an explosion, but wasn't. The cooker should be dead or at the very least blind, but isn't...sadly amazing.

This ER Doc feels that law enforcement and the Attorney's General Offices don't have a clue of how bad the epidemic is...they think they're getting ahead, but the ER stats are showing that they aren't.

Cheers---

what breaks my heart the most is the "blinders" that most folks here in rural america are wearing concerning drugs...especially meth!! "not in my town", "but this is mayberry, usa...that can't happen here"!!! WAKE UP!!! meth is MOST common in rural/smallville, America!! It is easy to make, cheap and highly addictive...just the "rush" that your average kid in a small/hicktown is looking for!! Meth is taking over our small towns and is costing society BILLIONS every year in incarceration of people caught with the drug...TTB...I agree with you 100%....the ones manufacturing the drug are usually the lucky ones...they are seldom caught and it is usually the young "junkie" that gets busted and ends up doing time!! Our fear at our little hospital is a meth lab explosion!! We recently received a grant for bio-terrorism/mass casualty and the biggest and most potential problem that we could think of happening here would be to have a meth lab explode!! Imagine all the innocent people (healthcare workers, included) that would be affected by the toxic fumes!! I believe that if more folks were aware of the toxic chemicals that are used in manufacturing meth, they would possibly (hopefully) think twice!! For heaven's sake, these kids are putting battery acid up their nose, in their arm or in their lungs!!

How do we stop it? We must provide an alternative with guidence. But how? I would like to hear some suggestions and ways to make them work.

the first thing that pops into my mind when someone mentions prevention is simple EDUCATION!! We must start educating our kids when they are young!! Waiting until they are in high school is often too late for many! there is a woman who travels all over montana doing presentations on meth and how she lost her daughter shortly before she would have graduated from high school! She was a bright, intelligent (straight 'a' student) and had such a bright future...like many, she was from a very small town and got caught up in the high of meth....her unsuspecting parents knew nothing of the drug use til the young woman collapsed one day in the bathroom and slipped into a coma...she died several days later in billings ICU! This mother's story is simply heart-wrenching and the kids in our gymnasium all had tears in their eyes...sadly, however, many kids "forgot" the sad tale only weeks later and the attitude of "not me" took over....education and making that education repetitive, I believe, is the key to saving our kids!!

how about the rest of you....what suggestions do you have???

In our county the R.C.M.P go yearly to the schools and do talks on Meth, this is a have to attend for both parents and students from Junior High School up! Also school lock downs and checks take place randumly.A friend of ours is an R.C.M.P officer and told us kids use things like Draino and Anhydrous Ammonia to make Meth. The Anhydrous plants were moved out of place and locked up because they were using this dangerous chemical for Meth! VERY scary stuff. We live in a close knit rural county and this is getting really out of hand...they seem to target the rural population,so don't think your safe because your not a city dweller!!!!

I came home the other day and my pasture was FULL of " drug" cops hiding there getting ready to pull a raid on a neighbor's house across the county road.

It eventually got tied into the crew that stole my farm truck. I had told that anytime the needed to " hide out" there to do the raid...go for it!!

What was funny was my cows, who are EXTREMELY friendly, kept going up to the cops--who were in hiding behind a wind break tree row--- and licking on them!!!! They were wanting some " cookies"!!
