It's the sound of rain falling and water thrumming down the downspouts from our roof! We got about 1/4 inch so far this morning and the sky is socked in solid gray so it might last a while, at least I hope so.

The grass is just started growing but kinda stopped for the last week or so. Not enough to let the cows onto another field so the piece they are on is chewed off to about 1/1000th of an inch high.

Still feeding hay/haylage, whatever I find find kinda reasonably priced.

But maybe next week they can start on the rotational stuff. This rain should make things pop now because it's a warm rain.

I'm happy for you, burnt. It's such a good feeling when it rains after
you have yearned for rain.

Our rain is getting rather thick here now, tho. Starting to stick
on the ground. It's 34 degees F and I hope it warms up!!!

We have a good friend who planned to brand today...in the past
he's branded in a blizzard...so he's pretty stubborn...but he called
last week and said he was going to put it off til the following Saturday
(May eighth). We could hardly believe it. He must've had a premintion or
something. Anyway, it was a darn good call on his part. Plus,
he lives in Carter County (bad roads) and we couldn't have
gotten there anyway. :D

Good to hear you are getting some wet stuff Burnt. Isn't that the sweetest sound and smell.. :D

I too am hoping I can kick my girls out in the next w
eek. AI'd another group last night, hoping to catch a few more and then the bull with have to clean them up as I move the two groups together for grazing.

Well if I'd dump a dead fly into the rain gauge it might have measured up to a 1/4 inch but the grass just loves a warm shower in the spring.

We're in line for a few thundershowers overnight and tomorrow so we might get a but more drops out of this. Anyway, I think it was enough to get the grass ready for turnout on Monday or Tuesday.

It is most unusual for us to be this dry this time of year so any amount is good.
