The aberdeen Angus-original genetics-and Hereford are both listed under the rare breeds survival trust watch list in Great Britain. That certainly is some food for thought the cattle they show look pretty useful to me. The polled hereford bull they show is pretty chromed up-he'd probably be accused of being part simmie over here lol.
 
Everything in Britain has become Limo type - Limo is the #1 breed there because that is what the supermarkets want - lean red meat. In turn all the other breeds have selected for limo type so now everything from Charolais to Galloways and even Luings have to be limo type to sell. Did you see the picture of the $75,000 Angus that is heading to Texas ? He looks like a very big black limo to me.
 
You know as good as he looks I might just have to pass-it looks like his calves would be good at slipping through thick timber. As your scotch compatriot Alistair Stables would say he's not very wiiiiiiiide!!!
