We are into our 4th consecutive day of southeast wind. And it's blowing hard! The snow is moving constantly, making for pretty bad road conditions. The pavement warms up in the day time, and the blowing snow sticks to it and turns everything into a sheet of ice. Lots of highways, travel is not recommended, many vehicles have hit the ditches. Best friend's sister went to town yesterday morning, skidded off her side of the divided highway, through the ditch in the center, and up onto the other side of the highway into oncoming traffic. She just about got smoked by a semi. Too close a call!
And to make life interesting here on the farm, getting feed out of the stacks is quite the challenge. They are all blowed in, surrounded by deep, hardpacked snow. Have had the tractor and bale processor stuck already. The bobcat is plugged in, waiting to be used if necessary to dig out the feeding outfit.
Geez, I can't wait for spring! I feel sorry for you all that have to calve in this. Sure makes me glad most of ours came in January this year.
