We are into our 4th consecutive day of southeast wind. And it's blowing hard! The snow is moving constantly, making for pretty bad road conditions. The pavement warms up in the day time, and the blowing snow sticks to it and turns everything into a sheet of ice. Lots of highways, travel is not recommended, many vehicles have hit the ditches. Best friend's sister went to town yesterday morning, skidded off her side of the divided highway, through the ditch in the center, and up onto the other side of the highway into oncoming traffic. She just about got smoked by a semi. Too close a call!

And to make life interesting here on the farm, getting feed out of the stacks is quite the challenge. They are all blowed in, surrounded by deep, hardpacked snow. Have had the tractor and bale processor stuck already. The bobcat is plugged in, waiting to be used if necessary to dig out the feeding outfit.

Geez, I can't wait for spring! I feel sorry for you all that have to calve in this. Sure makes me glad most of ours came in January this year.

Shelley: I'm ready for spring also.......we were lucky and didn't recieve near as much snow as you out of the storms but the drifts are building up and some of the sideroads are getting tough. Would love to see it warm up and melt some before we get into calving.......we run out of room fast in the yard and need to get cows moved out as quick as possible!

Shelly- we been getting the same thing down here...Wind is howling today- 25mph with gusts to 35-- but the temp is still 32 and no snow yet....

But the weather boys are now predicting 40-50 mph winds for Sunday during the snowstorm...That will make things interesting  ...

We're getting this dang SE wind too...with snow!!! But we need moisture, so we'll take it!

Oldtimer please send our stuff back when in lands in your country...or else send it back in the next northwest wind, which is likely just around the corner!

If I were still in college I'd be on the phone asking " :drink: blizzard party :drink: anyone?"

Be safe everyone, and always,

Cheers---

TTB

We hear you about the wind its driving us crazy  LOL.We so far haven't got the storm but Gregs on his way to Camrose for a rodeo, and called back he may stay at his moms because they are really getting it!!

Same here. Winds up to 35 mph, not cold but the wind chill is about 8 above.
And tomorrow it's gonna get bad...snow along with the wind. We are to get 8 inches by Monday. Yikes!!!

We aren't supposed to start calving yet, but our AI'd heifers are about done calving and we only have one calf in the old cows. Hope they hold it off for a little while yet.

At least you have some snow for the wind to blow around. All we have had is two solid weeks of 30 to 50mph winds. Anymore around here a good day is when the wind only hits 20 or 25 mph. Dont know how to stand up straight anymore with out leaning into the wind first.
