I'd really like to share, are you sure you don't want any????? :P

I sure I don't need any right now, The Vet is coming tomorrow to bangs vaccinate heifer calves and I've got a water tank to replace so I can get them weaned. I could stand another month or so with out the white stuff.

We have 8" of snow and it's still snowing
I just watched Hannity interview GW Bush and now I'm reading
Ralph Moody's book, "Horse of a different color".
If it keeps snowing like it is now, we could have a foot of
white stuff in the morning.

Gcreek, thanks for thinking of us.............. :D

We picked up the book, "Beyond the Chilcotin" at the
book store in Williams Lake.

geez FH, 8 inches  we've got maybe 2 so far and it could stop anytime if it wanted to. although, i am glad we are getting some...corrals have been pretty dusty.

Did you leave the puppies a suprise in their dinner? It would sure be fun to have been in a tree stand with my .270 while you were off buying books.

I wish you would have been too. :( If we had stayed home and waited for them they would not have come close.

No surprises.

So, what is the book about? A new Cherry County (Nebraska) history book, "Sandhills Century Plus 25" is hot off the press, and it is sure interesting reading. Makes is hard to spend much time on Ranchers.Net.

The book is called "Double or Nothing, The Flying Fur Buyer of Anahim Lake"
It is written by D'arcy Christensen who is 81 now and is a third generation son of a Chilcotin pioneer family. Basically an auto-biography of his life and stories about a lot of the oldtime residents in this area. D'arcy ranched, owned the family store, and was best known for flying out to the scattered camps of trappers to bring their supplies and buy their fur. He was also notorious for offering to flip "double or nothing" for payment on customer's purchases.
D'arcy is a very shrewd poker player, he told me today that he still plays 4 or 5 times a week. I know some of the pots he has won have been in the six figure range.
D'arcy also helped out a lot of folks in this area finacially over the years.

I am looking forward to reading his book.

I'm embarrassed to say I felt the need to shut the furnace off and open windows when I got home from work tonight

But if it makes you guys feel better, my sister lives out in Casper, WY and she's been posting pictures like crazy on Facebook of the first snow of the season out that way.

As much as I like you FH can you keep it there please .. :)

So much left to do here with the late season ,still need to catch up.

Stay warm and please stay safe on those icy, snowy roads ..
