I picked this bear kill up and put it in a tree about ten years ago, was by it with the4 wheeler last fall and brought it home for a yard ornament.

#153 a good cow with a bit of a story. When I bought in 2001 her she had been cut out of a bunch at the salebarn because of an ulcerated pinkeye. The bunch sold for $1420 per head and this cow cost $650. I got the horse laugh from a couple of guys for buying a one-eyed cow. I replied that I didn't know that a cow needed two eyes to push a calf out. Anyway, I took her home, treated the eye and sewed it shut with catgut. The stitches fell out two weeks later and I had a two-eyed cow. :D

# 38 A Wingnut that brings home a calf every year.

Old Ghost came home in time for weaning last fall, usually she shows up a month or two late.

Probably the most efficient cow on the place, she would weigh no more than 850 lbs and brings a 5-550 weight calf home every fall.
Yeah, I know she's an ugly little half longhorn scrub. :D

Cows look good gcreek. I have a blind cow that always brings home a crackerjack. She is easy to handle if you talk to her and she just hangs out with the group. If you didn't know you would never know.

Will get a little bit below zero here tonight again. The wind makes is worse. Seems like every winter is a little longer and colder. Hope you kept some heifers out of the 94 model, they pay the bills.

Thanks for the pics. Cows look really good, as do the calves. That moose may have done better if you'd let it out of the kennel more.
Sorry to have to share the cool weather with you, but misery loves company you know.

Shane, when you suggested keeping replacements out of old 140 you got us looking through our records. The only heifer she's ever had is in the weaner bunch this year. Maybe we'had better keep this one.

Wy Rancher, you guessed right, old cows are known as crocks in this area.

Silver, we gave your weather to someone else, it'-10 C here tonight. :D

Hopefully some parts for everything that has broken down in the last three days show up before we get a bunch more snow.

Hay trailer- 2 broken main leafs-special order because of age.

3-ton feed wagon- 1 front hub and bearings.

Got the broken wheel studs replaced on my 550 today, I guess a person should check them a little more often.

Bad luck comes in threes doesn't it?

Doesn't stuff just readily break when it's that cold? You Northern guys are tough. Thanks for the pics, they look good.

...and I'm sitting here waiting for it to warm up to get outside and get some ' stuff' done......up to mid 50's !!!
