Jim Lent's Linebreeding Book

I finally got my copy if Jim's book in the mail and finished reading it tonight. Very good reading. It was fascinating to me just studying all of the pedigrees and trying to fathom the patience, work and commitment it's taken to keep a herd closed for 125+ years. Agree with the method or not, it's impressive.

Jim must have gotten a new batch printed...heard he was sold out. Might have to buy another spare copy...my last spare hasn't found its way back home.

I wouldn't buy anything but a linebred bull!!

I don't know that linebreeding is the only way to go but it is definitely a very useful tool to develop a solid program with.

Linebreeding simply concentrates genetics...if there are flawed genes, they are exposed...then they can be eliminated from the gene pool. As Jim says in the book, linebreeding without ruthless culling leads nowhere.

The best book, i've ever found on linebreeding, was Anxiety the 4th. I want all of my cows to be at least 3/4 sisters. When I introduce new genetics into my herd, it's always maternally.

The genetic bell curve is really narrowed down, by linebreeding.
