I've been busy doing summer things but still tend to take the camera along. I was downloading some pictures and realized I had over 150 built up. I recall Soapweed talking about clicking a couple months back so this these words kind of fell together as I was typing. ( this was written in jest and not meant to be offensive to anyone, all characters are fictional) or something like that. - --EP.

Clicker Beast!

I finally called my doctor
About a pain that seemed to linger
It was keeping me up at night
An aching index finger

The doc said, ok come on in
I'll take a real quick look
But I'm a betting that it's something
You won't find in no medical book

When I went and finally showed him
His eyes began to flicker
I've seen several of these lately
Tell me the truth, are you a frequent clicker?

I slowly looked down at the floor
And knew that I'd been had
For months I'd tried to supress it
A habit that was all so bad

With a weary sigh I shrugged my shoulders
And slowly nodded my head
Expecting to see some anger
But got a pity look instead

Doc said it's really getting common
I've heard of it all around
From Lily and Haymaker in Texas
In Nebr,. a Jassy andSoapweed it's been found

It's been Tapped in South Dakota
With Turkey Tracks it's also known
To miss Katy and other fine Canadians
And others, it's seed has been sown

It's even hit some poets
Jinglebob has shown signs
Tumbleweed, and SW's
Posted pictures instead of rhymes

From New Mexico to Minnesota
It affects so many that we know
Even the great state of Montana
And it's been spotted in Idaho.

I guess it's affected this great nation
From the west coast to the east
It's almost been an epidemic
We call it the " ClickerBeast"

The only advice I can give you
Is throw that camera away
Unhook that nasty old computer
And drop to your knees and pray

The reason this is so serious is
It keeps you from your sleep
And instead of keeping livestock records
It's downloaded pictures that you keep

The common cause we've discovered
And it's been our best lead yet
Is it seems to affect most ranchers
That are found on Ranchers.net

Here's a few clicks I've taken in the last couple of months.

That's a pretty cute poem, EmptyPockets. Some folks have a nervous twitch, but I seem to have a nervous click. If I smoked a cigarette every time I clicked a pic, it would be about a three-pack per day habit.

It's nice to know that others are afflicted with the same disease. :-)

:-) Cute poem, pretty darn true too :!: I really enjoyed the pictures, thats twice today I've seen lightning pictures, now thats my new mission. Do you guys use the regular settings for the lightning pics or would one use the setting for fireworks??

Very impressive photos. I think if we got a bunch of ranchers.net photos together, we could publish a coffee table book! You guys are talented!!

By the way, I recently "borrowed" a pic. from a frequent pic poster for my desktop wallpaper. I confess to this out of my utmost respect and gratitude to the poster. :)

Thanks for the picture story EmptyPockets, you got the picture takin down pat, captions aint all bad either,I got a kick outa your tree hugger :D
good luck

Neat pictures, EmptryPockets! Especially the lightening. Now if you could just add the audio...
I've been trying to grow one of those stately yucca plants for three years and it is still only the size of my hand. Poor thing must be missing its prairie homeland.

Great poem and fantastic pictures!!!.
What camera are you using?
I should 'hopefully' have my new camera today! :D :D
I'll finally be albe to get some good quality pics.

EP, I loved your poem!!!!!! It made me get a little misty, thinking how much I've missed being here with you guys, and sharing your lives through your pics..........

There were only 3 pics that would load on my computer, but they were really great shots! Keep more of em coming, and I'll try to be here more to look em over for ya!

Glad you all enjoyed the poem. Guess the truth can be amusing

Mrs. Greg, I have a twilight setting, only one on my camera that will take decent lighting pictures. I'm betting the fireworks one on yours will work.

nr-- Maybe you need a few more as it might just be lonely! There's hundreds out here if you need a few more. Hope yours snaps out of it. Had a great uncle took some cactus back to Michigan. Too much water there and it lost all it's prickleys. Guess somethings do better on the water starved prairies.

Jigger Boss- I'm using a Sony Cybershot with a 7.2 megapixel, and a 12xoptical zoom. Still haven't figured out everything on it, don't have time I"m a clicker! Good luck with your new camera and am looking forwards to seeing the pics!

Ranchy-- Glad you're back. When they say there's no place like home, it sure is an understatement. I sure enjoy your great photos, thank you.

Thanks again for the compliment everyone and glad you enjoyed the poem, now I'll try and take Jinglebobs advice and back away slowly from the computer for awhile and get some more haying done. Later--EP

Great pictures. I liked the background on the soapeeed picture. The calves drinking would warm the heart of any rancher. The one of the lightening struck tree is a real classic. We tend to place all the destruction of our land and resources on man, but we tend to forget that mother nature is really the one in control.

I have often wondered just which squirre we have here. Is it the red squirrel, the gray squirrel, or the fox squirrel? Does anyone know?

http://northern.edu/natsource/MAMMALS/Foxsqu1.htm states there are all three even the gray from the east

I loved the dew drop reflection too. I never would have thought of trying for such a shot, but now I'll be paying more attention!

EP, that is quite a good poem and you have some awesome pics, thanks for sharing them. Haying is about done, should have been done baling today but a hydraulic line on the baler got sick so I had to amputate it. Should be able to finish in the morning but then this is fair week followed by some Montana Bunkhouse vacationers. Maybe the week before calving starts I can spend some quality time with the Ranchers.net family.
Keep the finger clicking and making rhymes that keep on ticking.

Thanks for the compliment SW. Hope you're getting a bunch of hay up this year and plenty of moisture. It's getting to be a tinderbox out this way. Try to work a little r&r in before the calving starts. A fellar needs a break once in a while. EP

EP!

Great poem and photos. I am honored to be mentioned in your poem. I have never been a part of a poem!

I really liked all of your photos, especially the lightning. I have been trying to get storm photos...and have not been quick enough yet, and/or don't have the camera figured out to get them.

I am glad you haven't had any grass fires from your lightning storms. Boy there have been some doosies go through your area.

Again, great photos, and thank you so much for sharing...

Cheers---

TTB

PS: Sorry for being slow responding...been kinda busy.
