Man it's hot. About 31 -32 C (90F)here with a humidex reading of up to 41C (105F). We had a lot of rain up the the end of June so the crops and grass are exploding over the fences but the cattle are standing in the shade most of the day.

We had a good run at the hay in the past 1 1/2 weeks and finished up the first cut. Good green hay with no rain.
 
How do you manage to get hay to dry with that much humidity?
I can't stand sitting when it's 90 degrees with 80% humidity and the hay won't come below 26%.
 
We had a bit cooler and drier air last week and the hay cured beautifully. It was about 24 -26 C with a breeze.

Late last week and early this week it has been stifling with the humidity but almost every day we have a bit of wind so that makes it work. Lots of strong sunshine too. When the alfalfa stems snap instead of bend, it's ready!
 
Just talked to my aunt from Troutdale, Ore. Expecting 90+ with lots of humidity there. :shock: I was whining about the 75 degree day we are about to receive. :?
 
We could use a bit of heat here. Still have some seeding to do, but it has been too wet to move the drill, let alone start seeding. Seems to cloud up and rain 1/2" every night.
No hay cut yet, but it is a heck of a crop. We still don't have cows out on pastures that normally we would start rotating May 15th.
We lost a calf when we processed due to water. He laid down in the mud and his sac sealed up. When his castration job didn't drain he got rapid infection and died.
It has been an amazing summer for grass and cows in our neck of the woods.
 
Back into the cooker again today. 30C or 85F again today with 66% humidity making for a humidex reading of 102F in the shade. We had 1" of rain from 6 to 7 this morning so things are just right steamy. I'm sweating just sitting here typing but I'm sure you didn't think you needed to know that! haha

This morning while digging out some burdock around the buildings it felt like there was no air to breathe. I moved the fence back to give the girls and babies a fresh strip of grass and that brought them out from under the trees to taste the new grass.

But other than that it's too hot and sticky to do much of anything! Well I guess I have to put an electric wire around the garden today because wifey reported rather crossly that she found a cob of sweet corn ripped off the stalk and chewed up by a coon.

So it's that time of year already! :shock:

So now that I'm done complaining, what kind of weather is everyone else getting today?

Y'all just think it is hot. Come to Alabama in July and August. You wish for those 93 and 60%
I got up last night around 2 AM and steped outside and like to fanted from the heat when it hit me in the face.
 
Was going to say it hasn't cracked 80 yet today....but just checked weatherbug and it says 82. Been cloudy and showering off and on most of the day.
