I felt a great disturbance in Kansas but not Wichita, as if millions of voices suddenly cried out in terror and were suddenly silenced. I fear something terrible has happened but not in Wichita.

it was a good day to be a Wildcat or a Shocker !!! seeing Kwho go down is a joy that never gets old.....

I usually like to root a bit for ku basketball. I'm not a huge fan just like to see them do well. I'm kind of the same way with ksu football wsu basketball and baseball. I have been to several sporting events including World Series nfl games pro basketball and hockey. The best game I have ever been to and enjoyed the whole thing from the moment I got there till the moment I left was a game at Allen fieldhouse. The Pregame made the hair on the back of my neck stand up and gave me goosebumps. Having experienced that I have to say that the way self talked about wsu kind of smugly just rubbed me wrong. I'm glad wsu kicked their tails and hope they do every time they meet again. Also just to clarify Jody about 20 miles west of Lawrence clear to Colorado is ksu country. Lol not to many shedding tears for the Jayhawks downfall.

Screw African golf... Even though the Huskers dropped one today to Cal State Fullerton, they are one of the hottest teams in college baseball right now. They have tomorrow off and then play host to Texass over the weekend. I'm going to try to get to a game or two this spring. I'm also getting primed to see what the Royals will do this year. I don't have expectations of a repeat, but win or lose I bleed Royal Blue every baseball season....I just wish Country Breakfast was still in KC.

Well, if one thought self was a bit smug, what would you think of a coach calling Kansas the chicken hawks? Yes, WSU coach has publicly derided Kansas on many occasions.

Kansas used to play WSU. The last year the series was in Wichita, WSU put all home games on a pay per view deal. It was like $150 for all games, or $15 for individual games, but the Kansas game cost as much as the total package.

Kansas again played the toughest schedule in the country. By some metrics, the toughest schedule anyone has played in over 10 years. Last year, again, Kansas played the toughest schedule. The toughest last 5 years or 10 years, and some dishonest clowns accuse Kansas of fearing WSU.

Kansas' record against WSU is almost as one sided as the beatdown they nearly always serve KSU. We shouldn't play either team.

Btw, roll call for the idiots that said wigs would be a bust in the league? You know who you are, confess before exposure.

I admittedly don't often read the sports part of this site but I venture to guess you are a Husker football fan and chicken squawk basketball fan? Gotta love those combos

Jake, that's what you get for venturing, but thanks for loving those people anyway. I have an admiration for excellence that includes nebraska and KSU FB, but I root for my jayhawks. I don't know where or how you could be so misguided, but I'm over it. When one of the local schools meets a population center school, I always root for the local school, TCU or ISU or whatever. I matriculated at Kansas, even tried out for the walk on basketball team 3 times under coach Caliperi, so I win or lose with the jayhawks.

As for the foul variant insult, I'll leave those to the dimwits unable to conjure the inanament reference to a warlord group assembled to repel proslave raiders.

The basketball record against nearly everyone vs Kansas is going to be lopsided. But then again against Kansas football......... and they still play. I think Kansas bball is one of the top 4 programs in college basketball. I have never heard of the chicken hawk reference to Wichita state. I think that a coach of any d1 school should be above that. The part that bugged me was how self thought KU was somehow above playing wsu on any type of scheduled game and just kind of poo pooed wsu like ku would be playing fort hays state or something. Self always get kind of critical of coach cal from Kentucky whenever they play. Self wants to play home and home but cal only wants to play neutral games and self will be critical about it in the on air interviews. Kansas has lost plenty of close games on the road only to come back to allen fieldhouse and blow them out. I think cal is afraid of that. In reality playing wsu is a no win situation for ku. If they loose then little brother blows about it for quite a while. If they win by 40 then it's just trying to rub it in. I know I sound like talking both ways but just would have liked for self to let wsu have their minute in the sun and move on. One more good year and marshall will be gone from wsu. I thought he was going to be gone now but looks like they are keeping him. Never in the future of wsu bball will they ever be even able to accomplish what ku has. I probly will still root for ku bball just kind of had a bug that day.

When I was at Kansas, Cal was really fun to be around - even to us hacks, while bill was just something more distant. I get what you describe, just a little maybe smug.

That seeding was a nightmare, Kansas a 2 seed ranked 10 playing a 7 seed ranked 14 (a 7 should be in the 28 - 32 range), but the real grind was youth vs experience. Kansas has been short of players since the twins said they were returning, freezing out some great players then jumped late. It's hard to catch up with so many oad players. Last year Kansas lost 80% scoring and put the #1,#3,&#10 players in the draft, this year really was a struggle with the 4th youngest team in the country.

Marshall has made continuous snide remarks about self, including the lie that Kansas was afraid to play them. The truth that Marshall has been forced to admit: he never asked for a series.

Kansas uses scheduling to enhance recruiting. Duke, MSU, Kentucky...all give Kansas better exposure than a game with WSU.

Yeah, I'm not sure how to evaluate top programs. Total wins it's Kentucky, Kansas and Carolina in that order. Know what they have in common? They all play in buildings named after jayhawks.

I also paid a bit more attention to wsu past few year cause it's not often a kid comes out of the old northwest Kansas league to be a big time college nation wide recognized player. Nwkl was What it was when I was in school. Ron baker from Scott city.

I remember following Nebraska football closer when I was just barely in high school. There was a guy from goodland played qb think he was backup for Frazier then got to play when Frazier got hurt. Beringer I think was his name. Then died in a plane crash. There was a country song about him also.

Baker is a great story - he's going to play in the league. Baker said he was a Kansas fan growing up, but when he had a chance to practice with Kansas, he was worried about embarrassing himself. He says he still has a picture of Kirk Heinrich in his room. He definitely torched Kansas. I think his situation at WSU gave him the opportunity to improve to a high level talent. The NCAA and nba could benefit from more players like baker.

I better eat a little crow then Brad if you attended KU. Majority of the folks around our area that cheer for Husker football and KU Basketball are simply band wagon fans who never attended either institution. Like being a Yankee/Laker/Cowboy fan or something similar.

As for the "foul variant isult" don't take it personally simply razzing for a rivalry. I don't get worked up when somebody calls us the mild cats or delightful kitty cats.

I agree with Jake, in our neck of the woods the only thing worse than a Jayhawk is a Jayhawk that roots for husker football.....

rock chalk
chicken hawk
screw ku

my favorite chant!

Jiggsy, I hope some day your cats will reach a sufficient level of success to allow you taters to more root for a team rather than against a successful team. Think about it. You know "my 2 favorite teams" stuff is really lame. KSU is sorta my second favorite team (I can't root for squeaks because of the chit he talked about self at il).

my brother in law...die hard hawk fan, just had his daughter accepted to KSU.... the next 4 years are going to be so much fun! arguing with KU fans is just a fun hobby to pass the time
