A very close hunting partner and friend of mine lost his son in Afghanistan on wednesday, October 13th. The young man was 19 and had been married less than a year. He was deployed a week late so he could witness his son's birth who is now 5 weeks old. Jordan went into the Army as a way to pay for medical school and was a bright, smiling, intelligent young man. He was killed while helping a wounded soilder during combat as he was a medic. He was on his 2nd patrol of his deployment. I'll post a link to a news story about it.

Just let's all remember the sacrifice made regardless of how we feel about politics and war. Please do not turn this into something political even in the slightest. Lots of families are waiting for THIER soilder to return home. And lots of brilliant and amazing young men and women are in harms way today. ALWAYS remember them all when you hit your knees. Thank You.

My family has a standing prayer time for all the military personel on deployment, we will add Jordans' family to our prayer list, as an "old soldier" all those serving are constantly in my thoughts and prayers.

My prayers and thoughts are with his family...While in Texas we drove through a small town called Cold Springs...there were American Flags along side the road hundreds of them...we asked a Lady what the occasion was, and she said it was for her cousin who was killed in action and that the funeral was about to begin. As we drove a little further down the road, the people were standing/sitting along side the highway waiting for the funeral procession to go by...We both got tears in our eyes to witness such support in a small town...God luv America!

Politics aside, people can say what they want about the state of affairs in America, but the fact remains that we are still the "GREATEST NATION" on Earth. We have an all volunteer military, and yet the so called "Me Generation" are willing to serve and make the ultimate sacrifice. I had the unfortunate privilige to honor a young man who gave his all last fall and I must say that it was the absolute most humbling day that I have ever experienced. Businesses shut down and the employees were all standing along the funeral route waving flags, veterans saluting or people had their hands over their heart. I was very very proud of my home and community. These are young people that have their whole lives ahead of them and yet they feel a calling to serve and protect our way of life. The people of this country should feel proud and blessed to have young people of this caliber and character. My prayers are with this family 'H. I am truly sorry for their loss, but I appreciate their selfless sacrifice. This is a very blessed nation because of the people that serve. God Bless Them All !!!

So sorry 'H, will be praying for them. Hate to hear that, Caleb will be deploying after the first of the year, and Mikes son will be going to Afghanastan about then too.

That breaks my heart, I'm sorry for his young wife and their son. Tell your hunting buddy that I, we mourn his loss and at the same time are proud of his son's courage and sacrifice. I served in the Navy back in the 70's but I can hardly consider myself a Veteran seeing this current generation that is so willing to go and serve. They know where they're headed and just about guaranteed to face the enemy. God bless him and his Family.

God bless all that are serving and have served. I am proud of ever one of them. When we think our country is going to hell in a handbasket, just remember the young men and women in our military.

That's a heartbreaking deal 'H, I feel for the young man's family and friends.
