I just got done helping a cow calve. One foot was back, so no big deal.
I think she knew she was in trouble and was an angel to handle and get in. She never even pushed back much when I pushed the calf back in to get the other foot.
Once I got the calf out and turned her loose, her attitude seemed to change a little.........she immediately chased me out of the pen.
" You're welcome, you *^%$#&*&^%in' *&@#$*&!!! ", I said.
My dear sweet wife thought this was all quite funny. :D :D

I had one do that to me this season after I pulled her calf.. She was nuts going in to though.... She chased me 12 seconds after the pull, 12 minutes after the pull and 12 hours after the pull. Think I would have learned? Also, I know she gave me the eye in the pasture about 12 days after the pull... Needless to say, she is on "the list" for this fall. Some folks love those overally aggressive momma cows around here but I prefer not getting rammed into a fence if I can avoid it.

Never have had one thank me..

Mr. FH says "we can't have those wild cattle around this Ma and Pa outfit." And he means it. He just won't put up with it. He respects the cows and doesn't try to tag them when the calves are pretty new and he gets by fairly well. 'Course any that act bad get a free ride.

<chuckle> I had one thank me once. The neighbor wanted some help pulling a backwards calf. When we got it, he'd waited too long and it wasn't breathing, but I went to work on it anyway, just in case. I laid the calf down in front of its momma and she worked on it too. After a few minutes, I gave up, and she gave up shortly thereafter, looked at me, and started on licking my hat off my head, my hair off my scalp and the coat off my back.

All told, I think I would have rather had her chase me over the fence

Did you have your special cologne on this morning Tim?

This is only my fourth calving season and I have learn to dodge and weave a bit better each year.. First year I ahd a momma cow drive me through a three strand hitensile fence... Needless to say, ouch. Second year, same cow, jumped a fence and came after me, didn't know it was her calf, ungrateful gal too because I just "saved" her calf from a piece of old wire... Third year I waved at her as I drove by. This fall I waved t her as she brought me good money as beef on the hoof. I won't miss seeing that white 90 in the field... Would have been hard to keep up with her with 400 or so odd cows in the pasture.

This seems to happen also with the cow with her back down a hill. If ya didn't stop to help her she'd be tits up yet when ya do seems more often then not she's on the fight and looking for something to chase when she gets up!

My "special cologne"?? :???: No, I don't think so. Just the usual combination of diesel, morning breath and B.O. Nothing that would make a self-respecting female,of any species, want to chase me because of the way I smelled at least.  :)

Funny Mike didn't ask what was in your underwear.
Last fall i was bringing some cattle out of the badlands. These cattle took off down a hill and left me to pick a trail I could get down. As I was nearing a big old sage brush I saw something sticking up and the brush shaking. Turns out a cow stumbled and tipped upside down in a wash beside the sage. I managed to get her upright but she wanted to eat me and my horse so i just rode around her and left her. She decided to come along and we both caught up with the bunch.

Tim, I would chase your butt out of the pen too, if you had your smelly underwear on, as usual.

Try some "Clorox" to get the "Skid Marks" out of your drawers.
