Just wondering how many of you out there wear some sort of leggings? I had never worn any until my wife and I got married. She wore Chinks almost every time we rode, and kinda got me started. Since then she has made me a pair of Shotguns, and is supposed to be making me a pair of Chinks. I wear the shotguns almost year around anymore, but I still like chinks to use in the branding pen. http://www.lwleather.com/index.html Just to show you some of what she has made.
 
Didn't mean to advertise. Just kinda proud of what she is doing to help put food on the table.

Used to wear batwings when I was a kid in the mountain country. I think they weighed as much as I did. Sure thought I was a real tough customer when I had 'em on.

I moved out of the oak brush a long time ago and haven't had any leggings of any kind in my adult years.

If I rode a fair bit today I'd probably like to have something at least to stop the cold wind.

My Dad, brother, and I all where chinks. Dad used to where a set of Chaps, but since we got him these chinks for Christmas, that is all he will wear unless it is pretty cold and windy, then he will pull the old chaps back out.

I am not sure what batwings are, can someone help me out with that one?

I am wanting to get my 2 1/2 year old son a set of chinks that will work as chaps for now as he is pretty small, and then when he gets bigger he will grow into them and use them as chinks for a few more years. Can you pm me with what it would approximately cost me to have your wife make a set.

Batwings are full length chaps in the same basic shape as chinks that usually have three buckles or snaps on each leg and buckle around your middle. They are better in rain and thick brush for protection but kind of awkward to run in when losing an argument with a protective mamma cow. :wink: :D
 
Think the story comes from the book" Old Timer of Jackson Hole", it was called "the best saddled bronc ride in Jackson"
A old cowboy was riding down main street on a -40 day, he had his angora chaps on and he had a little prostrate, and bladder problem, kind of had a little leakage.
Well the horse raised its tail and started to let out a few road apples, but being so cold the outside froze before they hit the road. When they hit the road they started popping like firecrackers. The old pony started bucking, but the little fluid and the angora chaps where froze tight to the saddle.
I got a old pair of angora chaps from when I was a kid, have rode cold days and wish I had a pair now at times.
