Denny you hit that nail on the head, as there is not much totally made in the US anymore as cars and trucks maybe assembled here but have a lot of parts shipped from elsewhere.

I think equally as important is where our food comes from. We really need to protect our food industry as we lose more and more to foreign country's the day may come when we'll need to produce for our own use. In one of our large box stores sometime ago and big sale on fish so was looking at some with a fair intention to buy and as I looked it was apparent that it was all imported and nothing from US available. The chicken processing is a spookey thing to me[I don't eat bought'n chicken] Chicken produced here and sent to china to be processed. I'm sure they have all together different inspection rules and are not to eager to inforce those they do have. Beware and ask the meat man where the fowl was processed and buy according'ly.

And its not only processed chicken products/food items from China but also processed beef/meat products/food items (soups/stews/etc.) from Brazil that make me worry... Been several recalls and concerns about drug adulteration... This is a loophole in the laws that allows processed meats to be imported with no labeling of origin...
Its always been a wonder to me that we can require they label where our underwear are made- but we didn't/wouldn't require labeling of where the food we feed our families come from....

A good many years ago some of our friends moved to Australia and had intention's of going into ranching,which they did. They were better than average cowhands so was'nt long and they were helping to gather the feral cattle and the cattle were delivered to small packing house's where they were turned into meat and a lot was exported,mostly to the US. On a visit back here they ofcoarse brought back a lot of story's and pictures. Those pictures of these butcher shop's were appalling and one of the guys said it was a joke as the meat was going to the yanks anyway. Along the same time there was a neat wellrun kill plant nearby that we did a lot of business with and were there 1 day and the owner said I want you to see what the govt. is sending in here for the school lunch program. He showed large card board box's full of red meat chunks. It was to be thawed ground and sent to the local schools. I guess no one got sick or died from eating it but th e very idea always bothered me as our area has a vast supply of grond beef producers and federal and state inspected pplants to process it. even to this day how do we no where the Feds get the meat that winds up in these programs?? IIt is nearly impossible to sell any beef to our local schools as we can't compete with a lot of these foreign countries. THe 2 schools that my grandkids attend only use beef once aweek and then not very much.
