The innkeeper says $10 each, so the sailors give him 30 dollars and go to the room.
The innkeeper thinking he should have given them a discount calls the bellhop over and says: Here is $5, go up to the 3 sailor’s room and give it back to them.
On the way up the bellhop could not figure out how to divide $5 between 3 sailors, so he put $2 in his pocket and gave each sailor one dollar back.

How many sailors were there? A.3
How much did the bellhop put in his pocket? A $2
So $9 x 3 = $27 and the bellhop put $2 in his pocket which makes $29
