If this hits, it should put us over the 15 foot mark for the season. It can switch over to rain anytime  . Wonder what their definition of "significant snowfall" is . Still beats a drought  :D .

.. Significant precipitation will affect southeast Wyoming and
the western Nebraska Panhandle tonight through Thursday...

The region will be affected by two Pacific storm systems this
week. The initial storm will move across the central rockies
tonight and Monday and will be followed by the next slow moving
storm system for Tuesday night through Thursday.

The storms will bring the possibility of significant rain and
snow to southeast Wyoming and the western Nebraska Panhandle. The
first storm will produce between a third and three quarters of an
inch of precipitation. The snow level will lower to around 6500
feet with several inches of new snow for the mountains.

The next storm has the potential to produce between one and two
inches of precipitation over the area Tuesday night through
Thursday. The snow level will lower to around 5000 feet Wednesday
afternoon... with snow over the entire area Wednesday night and
Thursday morning. Significant snowfall is possible above 6500
feet for the middle part of the week.

The precipitation will also produce minor flooding of small streams
and low lying areas by Wednesday. The snowfall will increase the
mountain snowpack as well.

Travelers and stockgrowers should plan for the wet and cool weather
this week. Travel and outdoor activities will be impacted.
Additional information will be provided on the upcoming weather
over the region throughout the week.

This is the Facebook status late last week from my brother-in-law who lives in Casper:

Ok I was bored, watching the snow fall and heard it was supposed to get down to 23 tonight so I googled "misnomer, b.s., lie and WTF" and I got 130+ results regarding spring time in Casper.

So, I decided to google "Summer in Casper, WY"...

Zero results.

Seriously???

* Total snow accumulations... storm total snow accumulations of 18
to 24 inches are possible across the southern Laramie range
bordering northern Colorado. Across valley floors... storm total
snowfalls of 5 to 8 inches are possible.

And here comes another one... still beats a drought, but I'm ready for a little break :)

..WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY IN EFFECT UNTIL 6 AM MDT SATURDAY...

THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN DENVER HAS ISSUED A WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY FOR SNOW...WHICH IS IN EFFECT UNTIL 6 AM MDT SATURDAY.

* TIMING...RAIN AND SNOW WILL TURN TO ALL SNOW LATER THIS EVENING AND CONTINUE OVERNIGHT AS A PACIFIC STORM SYSTEM OVER CENTRAL UTAH MOVES ACROSS COLORADO. THE SNOW LEVEL WILL INITIALLY RANGE FROM 8000 TO 9000 FEET...LOWERING TO 7000 FEET AFTER MIDNIGHT.

* ACCUMULATION/WIND...STORM TOTALS OF 3 TO 8 INCHES CAN BE EXPECTED...HEAVIEST IN LOCATIONS ABOVE 8000 FEET.

* IMPACTS...ROADS WILL BECOME SLICK AND SLUSHY LATER THIS EVENING AS TEMPERATURES COOL. THE HEAVY WET SNOW WILL MAKE TRAVEL HAZARDOUS.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY MEANS THAT SNOW WILL CAUSE TRAVEL DIFFICULTIES. BE PREPARED FOR SLIPPERY ROADS AND LIMITED VISIBILITIES...AND USE CAUTION WHILE DRIVING.

The moisture is headin' your way WR. It rained this afternoon, 1/4" in the gauge and snowin' on the mountains. It's not a whole lot but it all helps. The wind has really dried things out here... there has been a red flag warning here for almost two weeks straight.

We are gettin hammered with spring time thunderstorms tonight. Kinda worries me. Lil Lilly has taken off with her new "Cup Cake" to Oklahoma to meet his mom. Storms up there look way worse than what we're gettin here......say a prayer or two for their safety plz.

Wyoming Rancher-- I suppose I shouldn't tell you it was just beautiful here today- sunny- in the low 70's -- about 5 mph south wind which allowed me to spend the day gathering a bunch of dead tree branchs and trunks out of the yard - and burning them....

Welcome to Wyoming :D . Actually it just RAINED here last night, no snow!!! It's prime Larkspur weather though :?. The old feed got smashed underneath the snow last winter, but I still think they can get a few bites with the new growth...at least I hope  :D .

The days the rains came here for the past two days and more to come. Here in the midwest/

As a kid I remeber giving shots of stricknine (sp) to cattle that bloted of larkspure. Dr Ketchum and Dr Palen recomended that. A grazer on the Lazy D south of Cheyenne had 26 steers die in two days to Larkspur. That year was a wet one as people hayed the interstate right of ways. One of the few years they did that. I could run faster than the adults so they had me give some shots.

Were a little dry down here but not hurtin yet. I'm blessed to have a prearie pasture that hold moister. The grass has out run the cattle and I'll need to start mowin weeds soon.

I take it you used to live in this area??? I need to gather the yearling heifers, but will wait a day or so in case they've gotten into the weed. The roots are most toxic, and easy to pull up with all this moisture. Nothing sicker than watching a bunch of silly yearlings running off, then dropping with weed... better not risk it   .

What would that be like ??? ??? :???: :???: :???:

That sounds like a problem I'd like to have, I'm sooooo sick of feeding! The market better stay strong after this winter's feed bill :?

I feed 2 rolls of hay and about 1/2 ton of highprotein range cubes. Yalls equ of cake all threw the werst winter I can remember. I'm real bless with my pasture. Went into winter with plenty of ruffage and fat cattle like ur sopose to do. The prairie holds moisture and heat. The low spots keep the frost off untill it gets real cold. But the kee to my operation is the cattle. Now the don't bring the money that the white, red or black cattle do. I average about 350 for a steer ready to rope. But these little wild cattle will thrive where a beef cow would starve. I worm them 2 to 3 times a year but that's all. So its kind of a off set. Yall seen some of my winter picks. The only poor cows I had were old. Now this year might be different. I might not have a bunch of ruffage goin into the winter. Then I'll have to get a bunch of hay or plant some rye. Its what ever blows ur dress up.

yes did grow up south and east of Cheyenne. Doc Palen was our vet when he could. He was Jerry Palen dad. Jerry was a friend of the family at the time when he started making cartoons. We lived on lone tree creek for a few years where the teepe rings were at. Then moved east into Wyoming.

The last year I was in Wyoming we had 121 inches of snow most of that blew into drifts that was not caught in wheat stubble. That whe I decieded to move south, where they buck the big 2 ft drifts with big 4 wheels drives.
