I always enjoy looking at everyone's photos on this site. Thought I would try sharing a few of ours. This is a pic of my daughter learning how to preg check from our vet a couple of months ago. Hopefully it shows up.

That pretty pink cap won't be so pretty, after she has done a couple head!! Now that you have the picture thing figured out, you gotta keep sharing them. Thanks and its great to see the kids involved!!

Very cool! Is she inspired to head to vet school in the future? What side of this great state are you on---me and my family live in the west central side of WY. Can't wait to see more pictures!

The going to vet school thing changes about every week. She's only fifteen so she has some time to figure it out. I always tell her if she doesn't go to vet school then she needs to marry a vet so I can get a deal one way or the other. Our place is north of Parkman, along the face of the Big Horns. About a mile from the Montana state line.

Thanks a bunch for joining our goofy long distance family of ner' do-wells! :D Starting kids out and watching them get thier feet under them is sure an enjoyable part of what we do. Now for the $5 question???? Was the cow open? :D :D

Keep posting and Welcome. :D

My first calving-job was just south of you ebutler; nice country...wish I could go back there someday.

Welcome, ebutler. The picture and description bring back strong memories of our daughter when she was that age.
Yup, she wanted to be a vet.

I tried to point out the "benefits" being a "people doctor" instead.
But as time went on, she settled on nursing and is now getting closer
completing the necessary program to accomplish that.

So you never know what all can transpire between now and then.
But guaranteed, it is never boring with youngsters!

There is a guy over there who is supposed to be really good at braiding rawhide. I spoke with him a couple years back. Unfortunately, I cant remember his name. In Wyoming terms, our place aint too far away. We are south of Gillette along the Belle Fourche.

That is Nate Wald, I believe.

And ebutler, you do live in a great part of the country. Being from
Buffalo, Wyoming we have driven through there many times, Mr. FH
thinks that is just about the best ranching country there is.

Now he would probably add parts of Canada to that, but for years he thought the Parkman country was THE BEST!!

Welcome to ranchers.net. You've got qirl with quite an interest there.
May she go far!

Was the rawhide guys name Vince Donnelly? He lives up the road from us. He's pretty famous with his rawhide stuff.

The vet was using the probe but he took it apart thinking it would be easier for her to tell where she was inside the cow. Thanks everybody for the nice words.
