We went n picked up our new bull, he's a lil over 3 years old, been in the pasture workin with one other bull on a herd of about 50 cows. I've seen some of the heifers that are now two year olds that are out of his first batch of calves, and I've seen the calves out of him that were born in January and February ......he could use some green grass right now, but after this drought thru last year and this winter, I don't think he looks half bad. Here he is in his workin clothes.

Good Lord sure does have a perdy pallet of paints don't he?

Jersey Lil- What is the pedigree of your bull, or what is his bloodline? He is a good looking bull for the job he has been involved in lately. And he still has good Phenotype.

Your should enlarge both of these pictures, Frame them, and hang them in a demanding area! They are fine pictures, and you have good taste and esthetic balance and timing!

I'm not real sure on his pedigree as of yet, the uncle didnt get his papers since he runs a commercial operation as well, but I'm hopin (just for curiosity sake) to get in touch with the breeder and see if he can go back and get the info. What his EPD's were at the time of sale. I know they would be different now if records had been kept, but least it'd give me an idea what he was as a 18 mo old. I've never owned a registered critter. Well I take that back, one QH is registered LOL, but bovine...never have.

I kinda just go by what they look like, and what kinda program they've come from. And with this one, sure was nice to be able to see what has come outta him the last couple years.

Thanks for the nice words about the photos.
I enjoy sharin photos as much as I enjoy lookin at other folks' photos.

Well normally I wouldnt either, but since this one belonged to Mr Lillys Uncle, and we know his operation and the price was right LOL

I know what's usually said about dealin with relatives too, hehe. In this case tho I think we gotta good deal. Was actually nice to deal with someone that'll tell ya like it is, show ya the proof and let ya make yer own dicision, with no pressure. Looked at several different places before decidin this one was the one, and those big fellas, alot of em...talk a big line tryin to convince you to buy there stock.
The few big ranches that have had sales recently, stuff was outta site, way beyond our price range.
To me, the main thing is, I feel like this was an improvement over the one that took a trip in the trailer saturday. Next go round, shoot for an improvement on this one. Etc ect......right?

Around here-the bull sales have been higher than last yr.,but have also heard that some of them got soft half way thru. I don't think they are too high priced because of all that goes into keeping those calves and getting them ready for bulls. I went to a angus sales last week and got several bulls and paid $250 to $500 more per hd than last yr. at the same breeders sale. To each their own. I admire Soapweeds operation and bull buying ways-that would be the way to do it with a large herd. :-)

Very nice pic's Lilly, you missed your callin girl,ya shoulda been a photographer,I believe you have the right idea on the bull, keep him up a while make sure he gets plenty mineral and vittles, looks like he has been workin :D be interesting to see what he looks like after he has been on your place a few months, keep us posted,on the plus side he sure is the right color, straight backed & looks to be about the right frame size............good luck

FH no did not go to Larson Angus, but have heard of them but do not know anything about them. Went to one in the Flint Hills area.
