I finally got to meet my grandson on May sixth. It was one of the best days of my life.

Three generations. There was a lot of conversation with the older yard crew that remembered our son at this age.

I carried him as much as feeding and diaper changes would allow. We got along pretty good. :D

Proud parents.

On to the sale.
The heavy steers, they brought 103.50.

The middle steers brought 113.75 and went to a repeat buyer that grassed them last year. We have already gotten an email from this older couple letting us know the steers are settled in. They provide us with updates all during the summer.

Light steers, they brought 117.75.

Heavy heifers that were too big or otherwise didn't make the replacement pen. They sold for 99.00

Light heifers sold at 110.25

The new GREEN broke colt, an Arctic Cat 650 with 2200 miles on it. We got a good deal on it on a private sale.

Is that a calf pulling attachment on the front of your new horse?

That is a handy little hook for catching calves to doctor and tag. I'm so rusty with a rope anymore I doubt if I could catch a cold.
Our cows are so used to the bike that the majority of the calves don't move until they are caught. Same principle as I imagine as a lot of other's cattle are with horses.
If the calf has been caught before they can get a little cagey. They can run but they can't hide, I don't miss very often once they're set up. :D

You have a wonderful family, Gcreekrch. That new grandson will carry the torch in fine fashion.

Your cattle hit a good lick at the auction, and they weighed well. Your new colt looks gentle and durable, even if it is still green. Thanks for the pictures.

Those pics of you with grandchild are keepers for sure. You better take some pics of that green horse before it gets broke ;) I bet by this time next year it will be much more rounded off on the corners
Congrats on a good sale, looks like you did well with your new additions too.

i think it was three or four mornings ago i spent more time than normal looking for a cow i was expecting to calve. found her as far from home as she can get in the ne corner down in a little draw with a her calf's head and left front leg out - dead. it was three miles to the corrals and too muddy to get a trailer out to her so i actually used the winch on my big red steed. it worked but she is going to take 3 weeks to heal from it. hadn't had a lick of trouble til the last couple days. the next morning i went out and a mid age cow looked to maybe be having trouble - walked her in and reached in and felt a tail. i could only get one back leg up and after about 45 minutes of cussing decided it was either to the vet with a dead calf and a cow to heal up or a dead calf at home with a cow to heal up after pulling the calf out by one rear leg - never done that before, but she handled it ok and mothered a twin calf before noon the next day.

it will be neat to see your 4 generation picture...
