I am glad there is some new and exciting dog talk on here. It's been awhile since folks have talked dogs.

We got a new pup from MT back in June. She's around 6 months right now and working goats and light calves real well. She's got a ton of gather to her and really wants to work. I just started about two weeks ago really training on her and getting her to take a few basic commands while working. She weighed 38 pounds yesterday at the vet's.

A real working dog is a real asset to any size operation. I don't use my dogs everyday, but when I need to go get something done, I really depend on their help, because most of the time I am working alone. But they do take alot of time and effort to be useful.

When they are not working they are kenneled to stay out of trouble. My two older BC's are pretty good about not going out and working stock, but they still spend alot of time in their kennels. One of the biggest things I am strict about is the dog can't go to stock unless it has been "allowed" to work the stock.

More than anything is they are all my buddies and fun to be around.
 
Sure hope she works out for ya..sounds like she's got a good start. My pup has had the summer off since we don't work the cows much...so we've been concentrating on commands and manners...she's done really good and listens and minds great. So this fall when we start up again with all the weaning and moving, she should be ready to really eat them ole cows up...lol The best thing though is her personality...she's such a geek sometimes in the house...so funny..we just laugh at her and she really hams it up...gotta luv them borders...llol
 
She looks great but doesn't look very RED.

My daughter got a new pup in June as well. He is a red and white except he is mostly white with just a red head and a red patch on his butt, His legs are abit speckled but he sure is a fun pup to have around. He just toments my older dog but Jack puts up with alot from Buster.
 
She looks like an excellent dog, and I think you are doing right by her. We now have 2 Corgis, I can't believe the "Little BIG dog mentality they have...we need to work on them because they love to chase cows....starting to do alleyway work, but we put them on leashes. They are sooo very smart, I just wish we had alleywork to do more often just so they remember!
 
FH, I got her from John Rose in Three Forks, his male dog is from Boe Suhr in Roundup and the female is from Eric Wanman in ID.

BMR, she is a tri-color, and she had a couple R/W litter mates, so hopefully if we ever breed her, we can find a a dog that might throw R/W. Color didn't really matter to me this time as I was looking for a slick haired female, but I still prefer the R/W dogs.

We're heading to a trial in Jordan Valley, OR this weekend. I am pretty excited since I haven't been able to go with my female due to her having pups and getting hurt last fall. Hard to tell if we'll get anything won, but it is still fun to go out and "play" every once in a while.
