Put the cast iron griddle on the Bar B que tonight and tried FH's method of cooking steak. It was GREAT and alot nicer then standing out watching for flare ups when cooking just on the grill.

rustynail said:that how we cook our steaks, let them thaw out to room temp., salt and pepper on both sides. big chunk of butter in the hot skillet along with any fat trimmed off of the steaks, let the butter melt and the fat begin to sizzle, thats when you know the skillet is hot enough. small can of sliced mushrooms with the water drained off. flop the steak in the skillet and pour the mushrooms in the skillet and on the steak. flip the steak only once, when the mushrooms are starting to get crusty then its time to eat. tall glass of chocolate milk and some A-1 sauce and a baked potato can't be beat.
If you ever really want to clean a cast iron skillet (old ones from flea market or found ones) toss them in the camp fire and just let the fire go out, don't take them out, they need to cool slowly. they will look like new from the store. now start the seasoning process all over again.
never did like the steaks on the grill, but if they are i think charcoal is better than gas.
