New technique when cooking steak

Put the cast iron griddle on the Bar B que tonight and tried FH's method of cooking steak. It was GREAT and alot nicer then standing out watching for flare ups when cooking just on the grill. :D :D :D

that how we cook our steaks, let them thaw out to room temp., salt and pepper on both sides. big chunk of butter in the hot skillet along with any fat trimmed off of the steaks, let the butter melt and the fat begin to sizzle, thats when you know the skillet is hot enough. small can of sliced mushrooms with the water drained off. flop the steak in the skillet and pour the mushrooms in the skillet and on the steak. flip the steak only once, when the mushrooms are starting to get crusty then its time to eat. tall glass of chocolate milk and some A-1 sauce and a baked potato can't be beat.

If you ever really want to clean a cast iron skillet (old ones from flea market or found ones) toss them in the camp fire and just let the fire go out, don't take them out, they need to cool slowly. they will look like new from the store. now start the seasoning process all over again.

never did like the steaks on the grill, but if they are i think charcoal is better than gas.

I agree Charcoal is better then gas but sometimes i don't have the time so gas is quicker. I hate the flare ups on the gas grill so putting the griddle on the gas grill worked great. I have been doing some dry rub smoking and cooking of ribs and roasts. I made my self a job and every holiday and in between i get to do some Bar B Que. :D

thats a thought, put the griddle on the gas grill. i also like to take roasting ears of corn and pull back the shucks, pull all of the silk off then pull the shucks back up on the ear of corn. soak in a five gallon bucket of water for about an hour. lay the corn on the grill on an upper rack or off to the side and let it steam until the husk starts to scorch. pull it off the grill shuck it and add butter, even better is bacon grease

yyyyuuuuuuummmmmmyyyyyyy!!

and don't forget the chocolate milk and home made iceream, ice cold watermelon, fresh peaches....................

headed to the kitchen for a snack now!!
